These folks are true professionals. Arley Eisen was/is our sales person. He has been clear and helpful in designing and redesigning our deck. Danny Flemming and his team (Matt and Lee) did our installation. It was refreshing to real craftsmen at work. The joinery is tight, the finish work exceptional, and it is overwhelmingly clear that and his team are experienced and outstanding at their craft. And finally our project manager, Danny Ostrander, has been calm and accommodating even when we had to make last minute changes in the design. So if you are considering a new deck, and you want it to be something to behold, give these folks a call.

I had a great experience with Barefoot Decks from the initial estimate to signing off on the finished deck. They had to completely tear down my 20-year-old deck and build a new one according to HOA specifications and updated building codes. They permit and the approval processes were seamless because the City of Smyrna knows the quality of their work and attention to detail. Although Barefoot Decks was not the cheapest, I felt I would get a quality product without cutting corners. They did not disappoint. My crew Ricky, Dave and Alex were here every morning exactly when they said they'd be here. They left the work site tidy every night. They were friendly, courteous and worked hard. My townhouse is very visible in the community, and many of my neighbors commented about how great the deck looks. The painting crew, Jeffrey and Danny, were equally professional and respectful of my property. I would be remiss if I didn't give kudos to the Production Manager, Danny. He coordinated every step of the project with professionalism and courtesy. He was never rushed and answered all of my questions. Everyone I encountered at Barefoot Decks was knowledgeable and professional. I highly recommend them.

We would NOT recommend Barefoot Decks. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement. We thought we were paying a premium for a great experience and product, but this was the most frustrating company weve worked with since we bought our home. Communication was a major issue throughout the project. The crew that built our deck was unprofessional and seemed to lack the skills needed. When we brought our concerns to Danny at Barefoot Decks, we were told that things would come together in the end. The project started on 8/28. As the end of the project approached, the crew started rushing through and slapping things together to finish up. They used different colored screws all over the deck, and in many places the screws werent screwed in all the way. They left gaps in the railing, uneven gaps between the deck boards, and sharp edges sticking out from the improperly installed flashing. They smoked in our garage making our house smell like cigarettes for days. On 9/14 they said they were done. We reached out to Danny on 9/16 about the issues with the deck and about a leak that had developed in our garage after a rain. We asked him to meet with us to look at the problems with the deck. He said hed come out the following Monday but didnt. Then said Tuesday and didnt. Finally, a different crew member showed up to patch the siding and fix the flashing to stop the leak, but Danny never came to meet with us to look at the other concerns we had. On 10/4 my wife sent an email with pictures detailing the items that had yet to be addressed (uneven railings, large gaps, splits & cracks) . We knew these items would need to be fixed prior to staining, and that any boards replaced would delay staining by an additional 6 weeks. It was 10/20 before anyone came to correct the issues, and it was the same crew that had made all of the original mistakes. They did not bring any materials with them and had to go buy supplies from Home Depot. The boards they came back with were warped and thats what they installed. They still didnt screw the screws in all the way and left them sticking up. The deck staining subcontractor had to spend his first day driving 100s of screws so he and his crew could sand and stain. Due to the late repairs, it was 11/27 before the deck could be stained and the project wrapped up. Was everything perfect, no, but we were ready for this project to be over. A long review I know. But I feel like customers should know what theyre getting in to with this company before they sign any contracts. If you live in Marietta/East Cobb area, Id recommend looking for another deck company. The job was finally completed on 12/1/23 and Im happy to be done with this company.

We researched for months and had at least five quotes before deciding. Google reviews helped us, but we did not get the same service that others spoke about in their reviews. During the sales process, we specified that good communication and workmanship were our top priorities. The salesman, Greg, reassured us that both were their priority, too! The company was initially responsive to our queries about the quote. However, after we signed the contract, there was complete silence. We were given a representative's phone number, but when we contacted her about the project's status, she was a bit rude and unhelpful. We were eventually contacted by the production manager, who gave us his contact information and assured us that he would keep us updated on the project and return any calls when he could. The contractors hired for the project were fantastic - they were professional, respectful, and kept us informed about what was happening. However, the project's progress was delayed because of the lack of communication from the Barefoot team. There were times when contractors showed up without notifying us, which would have been problematic if someone hadn't been working from home. Overall, I would not recommend Barefoot Deck if you want good communication regarding your project. If communication is not a top priority, then I would recommend them, as their contractors were excellent!! Danny's team was terrific. I would suggest that Barefoot hire a backup production manager. This would eliminate any communication gaps when the PM is not available for several days. I gave the company three stars because of their contractors' excellent work, but the lack of communication was a significant letdown from Barefoot.

In the end, the deck looks amazing and the crew did a great job. I'll definitely agree with the last few folks that communication was horrible after we signed the contract. Even in my subsequent follow-ups, there was zero response -- to a point I figured the contact was null and void. Eventually, they apologized and got things going. Only had a few minor issues that were eventually taken care of, but there were still communication problems from their end with solving them. All-in-all, the lack of communication dropped them a star, but we're happy with the end result.
