Very nice facility. Shelly works hard to see her clients succeed in and out of the show pen. Very family oriented barn.

Run away... as fast as your horse will carry you! Numerous clients have left her recently, here is a sampling as to possibly why. Overly controlling, passive aggressive in manner, and you receive a very negative verbal response if you do something to or with YOUR horse that she does not approve in advance. Not afraid to yell at a child, and things often go missing out of client lockers (you're not allowed to lock your locker and trunks are not permitted). She is NOT a good instructor, and is often emotionally/verbally abusive when clients have legitimate questions, particularly about your horse's care or health. She requires very expensive Baker sheets/blankets on all horses - why? Does she receive blankets for free or a kickback when so many a year are bought? Then she requires custom monograms on all blankets which immediately voids your Baker warranty, but she doesn't tell you that. If you buy a non-Baker cooler or blanket it won't get used, did I mention passive-aggressive? Oh, and she only permits one rear legstrap per blanket, what the hell?!! She literally takes it and puts it somewhere without telling you. Again. What the hell??!! Safety issue for my horse when wearing a blanket! Two leg straps required by manufacturers for a reason! Also, at shows, she doesn't warm up her clients or allow them to warm up by themselves (except her daughter). What is the training fee for if not to warm up and advise the client before a ride?!! Yelling 1 or 2 sentences at someone over the rail during a class is NOT what a training fee is supposed to cover. Clients have often felt inadequately prepared for their classes at the shows. The vet she uses is not local and has had at least one serious complaint filed against him in another state (per Google), which is another big red flag. I don't know about you, but I don't pay a trainer to verbally abuse me or my kids, or spend my money to her benefit and not mine (Baker sheets are not very waterproof, btw.) This is just unacceptable in the horse industry. There are honest, friendly trainers out there who provide better service.
