The Forest School: An Acton Academy

My daughter fully enjoyed attending The Forest School. Not only do the school and guides push her think critically and problem solve, but they also also provide opportunities for heroes to effect change in the environment and community. As a 'helicopter parent', I have had to adjust my parenting style to support the Forest School goals and allow my child to thrive and grow which I an thankful for. The administration is not only supportive but also very present!

The school follows the socratic model of learning. Learners are called heroes, teachers are guides and classes are studios. True to the names, learners are nurtured by the guides to be leaders of their learning journeys in creative studios. Sessions are largely project based, are very inclusive and the heroes are diverse and from various backgrounds and countries. The school fits well with our family location and traveling schedules, hence we attend online with the on-site option as need be.

With three adventurous boys immersed in its enriching environment, I've witnessed firsthand the profound impact it's had on each of them. It is also incredible to see how learners(Students) collaborate and thrive across grade levels. The emphasis on fostering curiosity and igniting a genuine passion for learning is what sets The Forest School apart. But it's not just about academics; the dedication to character development and real-world skills is unparalleled. As a parent, I'm filled with hope and gratitude for places like The Forest School. I only wish that more micro schools like this would flourish, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to experience such a nurturing environment where their creativity and love for learning can truly flourish. I can't speak highly enough about this school. The nontraditional approach to learning has done wonders for our daughter who's been attending for 4 years.
