Marcus is amazing and completely professional. The studio is as high quality aesthetically as he is a person, producer, engineer etc... I am beyond impressed with the outcome of my music. Great work ethic, top of the line equipment, and all at a reasonable price! Marcus provided our band the quality needed to release our debut single without hesitation. He went the extra mile to ensure that the song was recorded the right way to fit the style and sound we were going for, all while keeping a constructive workflow that encouraged dialogue and suggestion. As a band, we are particularly concerned with how drums are miced and the quality of the drum mics, as rock/alt/indie music depends greatly on the low end of the mix. Pink Bus uses high-fidelity drum mics and recording techniques that delivered the best drum sound out of our 16 song catalog (including our previous band's material). He also has a drum kit used by Matchbox 20 on one of their albums if you wish to use a different kit than the one you have. For vocals, Marcus uses a Shure SM7B Cardioid Dynamic Vocal Mic, a top of the line/high fidelity mic. Marcus meticulously tracks the vocals, getting multiple takes of each section in order to then cherry pick the best take and mold the best vocal sections possible. If you want, he will also manually edit the pitch of the vocal sections with you. As for bass/guitar, Marcus has a wide variety of amps and guitars available for your use if you want gear quality or tone different than your own. This includes a Mahalo DR40, a variety of Fender amps, and an Orange. He uses Shure SM57's and other types of mics, depending on the gear employed and sound of the song, to record your amp's sound. He will also record direct line-in from your amp, which is particularly helpful in recording bass, as a popular bass recording technique is to record both a direct signal and miced signal. Pink Bus also has an isolation room for vocals, multiple keyboards, utilizes ProTools, has state of the art console, multiple guitars, basses, and drums for you to use, and even a bar/kitchen area! In short, Marcus is a great engineer and mixer, and will deliver the sound your band needs by employing a variety of recording techniques. The space is extremely comfortable and you won't get kicked out of your session because the clock hit 5. We highly recommend.
