Considering buying in this subdivision - can anyone provide feedback?

I am a resident in the subdivision and am irritated by the way the HOA has been handling the subdivision. The main gate has been broken for over a year and continuously breaks and stays open. Last year, the pool was delayed in its opening and this year, there is a sign saying it will be closed for the entire summer. No emails, no notice on the doors, no explanation of any kind. As a homeowner and mother, I am upset about the lack of safety and amenities the subdivision is supposed to offer but isn't. We are expected to pay our yearly dues on time as well as keep a well kept yard and home and abide by the rules and regulations for living here but they are not doing their part. Where exactly are the dues going if the gate is constantly broken and the pool is the same with no upgrade and its been the past 10 years I've lived in this subdivision and its not open when it should be! Not happy at all!!!
