image I would really recommend Dr. Pollock for your pulmonary needs. He has treated me for almost 20 years. He always spends enough time to meet my needs. I routinely see Michael Calvert for check ups, too. Hes also great! The nursing staff and the office staff always do a wonderful job.

image I came here at the end of March 2018 to see about getting a sleep study to find out why I was sleeping so poorly. I first had an appointment with Dr. Nathanson at the clinic, then I had the study done and I came back to Dr. Nathanson again after the study to review the results with him. I was 0.3 below the required 5.0 AHI threshold in order to diagnose mild sleep apnea. Yes. Zero. Point. Three. My Respiratory Distress Index was 18.1. 50 breathing issues were noted over just under 3 hours that I slept. This is characteristic of the condition UARS. Nobody seemed to want to mention this to me that I might have this condition. I found it out by doing my own research. All of my symptoms point to it because my oxygen levels didn't drop like that of people with sleep apnea. I was asked by Dr. Nathanson if I "wanted to try a CPAP." I declined solely because I was planning on exploring other options first (the dental appliance and/or surgery). I went to my ENT doctor, who scanned my sinuses and found that I had swollen turbinates and also a deviated septum. I couldn't get surgery for that until months later in July 2018. That surgery takes months to fully heal from and I wanted to make sure that it was fully healed. I also checked into a dental device, which I found out has a tendency to move teeth. Having had lots of dental work, I didn't want that option. I have been trying to get a prescription for CPAP from this place for a number of months now, since the end of 2018. They now want me to come back for a third appointment because "it has been a while since I have seen the doctor." I'm not happy with that at all. My condition wouldn't have magically gone away or improved to necessitate another visit with the doctor. They still have my results from the sleep study. They want me to see the doctor again to get more money. For the sleep study plus the other two appoints, they have already gotten over a couple of thousand dollars and they still want more. I no longer have medical insurance at the time, so that's an issue. Their appointments tend to take weeks just to see the doctor, as well. During one of the times that I called, I was told that for the machine that I'd like to get, they want $1,600-$1,800 for it at this clinic. I can buy the entire machine and all accessories online for a total of $800-$900 max. That is very frustrating.
I ended up having another sleep study through another sleep doctor and they found that I actually have complex sleep apnea, so the CPAP proposal from Pulmonary and Sleep Specialists would never have worked and did not work in the lab, so they ended up putting me on Bi-Level (BiPap).

image When I was referred to this clinic, I called to schedule an appointment. The woman I spoke to asked for my insurance info before scheduling an appointment and verified my coverage on the other line. When she verified my insurance, she told me to bring my driver's license and insurance card. When I asked why I had to do that when she clearly verified my insurance, she got defensive and told me she could connect me with a manager because that was simply their policy.
Instead of sending me emailed forms to complete ahead of my initial visit, I was given paper forms to complete on the day of my appointment. This took an additional 45 minutes that could have been avoided. I work in IT and it baffles me that doctor's offices still require patients to fill out paper forms in order to conduct business in 2020. What was even more frustrating than the paper forms was the fact that I was then brought back to a consultation room and asked the same questions that I had answered on the paper forms.
I also have to pay a different copay amount with each visit, and I don't appreciate knowing what I'm being asked to pay each time.
To add insult to injury, I was scheduled for a visit after a sleep study to pay a copay and pay for parking for a 10 minute conversation that could've been an email or a phone call.
The good news is that I'm scheduled for another follow up visit because YouTube tutorials for using a CPAP don't exist.
Some of these issues are common for the industry as a whole, but I cannot forgive not having an online portal for forms and the refusal to abstaining from unnecessary appointments.
