We had one session with Courtney. We were looking forward to more even though she grossly misunderstood a statement my partner said about a medicine that she suggested. Instead of digging deeper into what she misunderstood, she rudely responded in an egotistical way. It wasn't worth explaining because she isn't capable of writing a prescription and I didn't want to waste time. All in all, that really wasn't a big deal. We just learned she was a bit disrespectful but that wouldn't stop us from getting help. What was a huge deal, was what came next. We made three future appointments and finally had hope for our problems. Those sessions felt like the life preservers that we needed. Days later, my girlfriend was very confused when she saw a cancelation email come through. She immediately assumed she missed the explanation so she looked, and looked again. She then asked me if I received anything but neither one of us did. We completely understand schedules have to change sometimes (we also own a small business) but it is never good practice to simply cancel a clients appointment without notification and/or reasoning as to why in any profession, but especially this one. After that, my girlfriend wrote an email explaining we received this cancelation but we didn't know why. We got an immediate response, WITHOUT an apology, simply saying that someone else now has that appointment every other week and we could change to the week before or after. She only stated this AFTER my gf wrote. When we explained why we couldn't do those times and asked for several other options, she completely blew us off by saying the times we were inquiring wouldn't work for her and we will look it next month at one of the other scheduled sessions. That was it. The first one was honestly no big deal. I can work with ill-mannered people, but to cancel without any communication from a therapist is a big no-no in mental health. Then, to not be available and/or not have someone else make another appointment because YOU had to cancel, shows disrespect and arrogance. Definitely not someone we want to work with, nevermind put our faith and trust in.

Atlanta Therapeutic Collective is an amazing resource if you're looking for a relationship and/or sex therapist. Courtney and her team are knowledgeable, caring, and supportive! They are a much needed, and cost effective, resource for the community. I'd highly recommend ATC!!

The Atlanta Therapeutic Collective lives its commitment to the words of Helen Keller quoted on its website: Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much. The Collective provides quality mental health services and sex therapy to the community. Offices, for when its possible to meet in person again, are easily accessible from many areas. And through its Low-Cost Therapy Program, the Collective is able to provide therapy at lower rate while also providing excellent training for new clinicians. A true win-win!
