Academe of the Oaks is an excellent high school that offers a thoughtful and rigorous curriculum in an international and diverse setting

DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO THIS SCHOOL, the administration practices abhorrent amounts of favoritism towards certain students that have connections to teachers and high ranking people. The lie that the school is "college preparatory" is what drives the schools admissions, but know that this is a lie. My child wasn't given any helpful resources for his entire 4 years attending this school. They say they offer AP credits but this is a lie, all of their classes are as hard as AP but you will not receive the credit unless you pay for it. As many said before the sexual harassment and bullying is rampant. I would keep my kids as far away from that place if I were you.

I feel like the one star review speaks for itself, but if you feel the need to get more in depth then read the other review about how hard they make it to leave and ad onto that how hard the courses are. They're essentially AP class but not worth any additional credit. DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE!

Incredible curriculum with a focus on experiential learning while teaching to serve the entire person, not just four traditional subjects. Fantastic faculty and staff, wonderful internship and abroad opportunities, and an emphasis on STEAM.

Once you join the school they will not let you leave. They make it hard to let students leave by having really low credits like .25 for a class. Kids are not allowed to have their cellphones they put it in a box and lock it in a closet, and the kids also have to clean up the school everyday and the end of day. The social skills here are bad there really isn't anything interesting the school has to offer.  They also don't take care or disputes between students such as bullying and sexual harassment they don't take action and let the harassers off with a warning each time. They treat harassment as a joke. My child is not looking forward to staying for another year. Yet it's hard to leave because of the credits and if you haven't paid the $17,000 tuition they make it really hard for you to leave, almost impossible. So once you join just know your committed to the school and if your a senior and haven't paid your tuition they won't release your transcripts to colleges. The only language they provide at the school is Spanish so if you transfer from another school and you took a different languages this could become a problem. You must bring your own lunch, only juniors and seniors are allowed to go off campus to get lunch. Also for senior year, all seniors are required to camp in the woods by themselves for 3 days. If you don't like camping and solely learning European history this is not the school for you.
