Dr. Durgin is a good listener and a good physician. It is his intellectual curiosity that makes him a good physician. He is a caring doctor who wishes the best for his patients. The reason he does not receive five stars is that either he lacks confidence in what he knows, or someone or a group of people prevent him from asserting what he knows to provide the best care for his patients. He knew my mother would need a blood transfusion before the Hospitalist. I can tell he wanted to do more but was afraid to rock the boat. I would suggest that you google "Melatonin and Addison's Disease - a phase IV clinical study where 40,686 people reported side effects when taking Melatonin." Please keep in mind that my mom was doing well until Dr. Shah PURPOSELY prescribed and had a nurse administer melatonin AGAINST my advice. My mother's anxiety was raised for DAYS following his little stint. Dr. Shah and Dr. Desai ought to be fired. They knew my mother couldnt take melatonin. I told you and doctor Shah, and Dr. Shah told Dr. Desai the very day I reminded Dr. Shah and he prescribed it. These rogue residents will end up killing patients if they havent already. There seems to be research that melatonin may have adverse effect on people with adrenal insufficiency, an autoimmune disease. Theres research indicating that people with a specific immune disorder should not take melatonin. I dont know if you were involved but there was no need to without Xanax from my mom to complete a case study on how melatonin affects. All the information on how it affects her is there from the first time she was given melatonin at the hospital and I told her nurse she needs to put it in the system as an allergy or adverse reaction. That didnt get done until they heard the magic words. Assert yourself and stand by sound logic and scientific research. Think critically. You could have saved my mom from the heart attack. Hamilton, dont ask me to contact you. I reported this to the Ethics person already. Ive shared this with everyone who needs to know.
