There isn't any place closer to heaven. Very quiet and very private. The staff at Barefoot Hills are exceptional. The only thing is, if you are going to be staying in a private cabin be prepared to walk uphill on very uneven ground. If mobility is an issue for you ask to stay in the main lodge.

This place was a wonderful find. The Suches, Dahlonega area is such a wonderful place to explore. We could not have asked for a better home base. The Cabin and Room options were diverse and interesting. Our Cabin was incredibly clean and confortable. The grounds were very cool. The firepit area was a great place to hangout at night. The staff were incredibly helful and accomodating for our personal needs. What a value!

Date of stay: September 2023 Barefoot Hills is the perfect place to stay if youre looking for a pleasant and peaceful location to relax and listen to nature while you rock on the porch and drink your coffee, wine, or whatever makes you happy. When we (three senior citizens) arrived, Mary Ellen greeted us with a smile and showed us to our rooms. We stayed in the main building, though the smaller cabins were easily within walking distance. All of the walkways/paths were nicely maintained and easily walkable. Our room was clean, neat, suitably furnished, and the bed was very comfortable. Mary Ellen prepared the fire ring so that we could enjoy it when we returned from our late dinner (however, we didnt light it, as we were tired from our long day and just went to our rooms). In the morning, we enjoyed coffee while rocking on the porch outside our room, then again, on the main deck while overlooking the mountain view. We only stayed one night, but we wished we had time to stay longer. Mary Ellen was a superb host, sharing info about the area and making us feel welcome from the minute we arrived until we departed. We definitely recommend having a meal at the Riverside Tavern, about ten minutes down the road at Turners Corner as well as 19 Degrees North in Dahlonega. We definitely enjoyed our day in Dahlonega which included visiting the Gold Museum as well as Crisson Mine. One day just wasnt enough time to visit the area. We will certainly have to return and stay at Barefoot Hills and plan for more time just to relax and enjoy the property. Wed love to have time to play on the oversized checker board, lay in the hammock, try some of the other games offered at the front desk, take some short walks around the beautiful property, and of course, relax on the porch and deck enjoying the views. Weve already recommended BH to our family and friends and know theyll love it too. Arrival tip: As you approach the entrance, slow down, and drive in at an angle as you begin coming up the steep driveway.
