        This beautiful historic church foundation was built in *1915 and formed by our ancestors during slavery. They are listed on the National Register. The history of humbled church parishioners is found at First African Baptist Church. It is a special place of divine worship. A tall pillar in the community which extends from the Liberty District and is featured on the Black Heritage Trail. The legacies of First African is tradition, richly blessed and prominent congregation. It was organized in 1773 where original Ephesus Baptist Church - est. February 14, 1829 transitioned to First African Baptist Church and sanctuary was completed in 1859.
