It saddens me that this is even happening. However, it is not as simple as it has been stated. On January 4, 2023, I replaced the center support bearing (driveshaft) and installed exhaust on Mr. Kirkland's vehicle. Mr. Kirkland paid $400.00 and left satisfied with his vehicle. Mr. Kirkland did not call nor did he stop by the office with any complaints at all. Over 4 months later, a few days prior to April 20, 23, Mr. Kirkland stopped into the shop. At this time Mr. Kirkland expressed that he felt I had messed up his drive shaft by forcibly replacing it. I then told Mr. Kirkland that I stand behind my work to bring the vehicle and let me look at it and that if it was something I did I would stand behind it. It was at this point that Mr. Kirkland told me that he had taken his vehicle to another local shop due to it vibrating when he would come to a stop. I then requested that Mr. Kirkland bring the drive shaft for me to examine( he refused). On April 20, 2023, Mr. Kirkland did file a complaint against me. At this time it wasnt for the balance of the bill nor for me to fix his vehicle. Mr. Kirkland stated that the other local shop had to replace the entire drive shaft suing me for $1,477.36 plus court costs for a total of $1,568.36. On June 20, 2023, we did have a hearing where I proved that Mr. Kirkland did drive his vehicle for over 4 months with no complaint. That Mr. Kirkland did take his vehicle to another shop for reasons other than what was done by me, and that he was suing me for replacing the drive shaft that was not replaced and that his original driveshaft was put back in the vehicle. A Judgment was issued for Mr. Kirkland in the amount of $491.00. However, I do not feel that it is a fair judgement and I am exercising my right to move forward legally with this matter. I have been mechanic for 40 years. I stand behind my work. I value and appreciate my customers and their concerns.
