I put 1star just so I could write a review If I could put - 5 stars I would! The reason I feel this way is because of the way my son who has special needs (down syndrome) was told he had a slight but not enough to matter eye sight problem. We went to Another ophthalmologist and was given glasses that he refuses to take off. he started to read he started to love books:) I have spoken to many many many other special-needs parents and have learned that their children have been told the same. I highly recommend if your child has special needs to seek a different ophthalmologist Dr. Goei does not believe that their site matters enough to do anything about it. Just sad:(

I would not say I like writing these reviews, but I think they are helpful, especially when choosing a doctor for your child. My son has seen Dr. Goei for about two years now, so I believe we can write a fair review. First, Dr. Goei does not have much patience for children, which I find strange for a "pediatric" ophthalmologist. She performed strabismus surgery on our son when he was two, with no complications; everything seemed fine. But after the surgery, he had to see her several times for post opt check-ups within that year. He was uncomfortable and wasn't the best at cooperating, but he's two. She always seemed frustrated with him. But she was supposedly one of the best, so we stuck it out. Then, about a month ago, she performed a second strabismus surgery, we were informed that we might need a second one as he grows and his eyes and eye muscles change, so it was not a surprise. After the surgery, she spoke with us and said the needle went too far and punctured his retina. So less than a week after this second strabismus surgery, he had to go under anesthesia again for a retina specialist to laser around the puncture. We got back to the retina specialist in weeks to ensure no further damage was caused. We asked Dr. Goei about the cost of this second surgery because we had already paid over $400 before they would perform the strabismus surgery. She said "insurance should cover it," but she would speak to her office manager, who handles insurance. A month later, we have gotten an almost $400 bill from the retina specialist and another statement from anesthesia. We are also worried that he will need additional surgeries in the future. I would not recommend her. Try someone else.
