I had been going to this clinic for approximately two years. There was one test they ordered and I completed it locally as it was swallowing a pill and getting an X-ray the next day which I did and they were obviously aware of what I was doing. On my last visit, they recommended I have it done (again). Problem is they never followed up so results never showed up on their system. If you leave a message for a call back from a nurse, you may never hear from them. I have called the front desk and was placed on hold for 50 minutes before the call is disconnected. I called back and when they answered was asked to hold again and when you complain am told we have to put you on hold because we are waiting on people at the front desk! I have had numerous calls inexplicably disconnected on many occasions. Hold times most days are very long. The final straw was when I had an upper GI/colonoscopy scheduled out for three months in advance (I had to be the one to request this test be done). Three weeks before the scheduled procedure I went to my local ER with what I was told was diverticulitis. I called the nurse the next day and explained what was going on so they were aware in case the medications or anything else would cause a problem with my upcoming procedures. She never indicated any of this would be an issue. I developed stomach pain following the antibiotics I took for the diverticulitis and was unable to eat for several days and was losing weight so I called and insisted on speaking to a nurse or I was heading to the local ER. I was able to speak to the nurse and told her I didnt want to go to ER and have them do anything that would delay my upcoming test in less than a week. She put me on hold for several minutes and came back telling me my test had been rescheduled for two months later! I told her I received a call just the day before reminding me of my upcoming test (in seven days) and reviewing the clean out procedure! She said she was sorry but someone had failed to note it on the computer. I cant imagine having taken the medicine for clean out, traveling for 3 hours, staying in a hotel, arriving at the facility to only be told they failed to let me know they postponed the procedure for two months. I complained to the practice manager and all they could say was they were sorry and it was a big ship that they were trying to turn around. I actually got another call from the nurse the day before the cancelled procedure to remind me to be there even after speaking to the PM several days earlier. I would suggest that you think long and hard about ever going to this facility. I will never go back there again. I had a local doctor try to do the colonoscopy but could not. It turned out I had a long stricture in my colon and adhesions. I started having vomiting of brown liquid and sever stomach pain. Fortunately I was able to have a colectomy before it turned into a true emergency situation by Dr. Jay Singh out of Roswell, Ga.

I flew out to Augusta from the East coast and Dr. Rao cancelled one of my appointments the day of (an hour before I believe.) In addition to this, he lied to me about the a protein drink I needed to drink for a test. I am lactose-intolerant and vegan and I asked if the drink was dairy-free/vegan and he told me "definitely" and it definitely had milk in. He may be one of the best doctors in his field but he doesn't actually seem to care about the patients needs.

after multiple tests, two tests failed. one, the battery died, but insurance was charged. The other failed because he clipped the wires too close to my splenic flexure, resulting in a ruptured spleen and emergency splenectomy. He destroyed my life. I am now immunocompromised and any surgery to correct the problem I went to see him for is now very high risk, because I am now immunocompromised. No colorectal doctor wants to touch me now. Bottom line, I left with more problems than I went to see him for. Beware, often the tests are more dangerous than the disease. I obviously regret traveling 18 hours to see him. I would also like to add that the hospital ER did not diagnose that my spleen was ruptured after an xray, telling me they would keep me overnight for observation. I could not breathe, had horrible pain on inspiration on my left side and was blacking out, bleeding internally and had to tell them to do a ct scan because it was my spleen. They finally agreed to the ct scan and I was in surgery bleeding out two hours later. The ER room was filthy, with a vial of blood on the table when I got there. They used that blood to type my blood for a transfusion instead of taking a vial of my blood. Yep, I received the wrong blood and got sick from that, and could have died.5 days after being released and two additional trips to the ER where they did nothing, I went back a third time for a transfusion as my levels were lower, not higher. They then discovered I had received the wrong blood during my surgery and gave me the correct blood transfusion. However, the ER doc told me not to worry as I could receive any type blood because type O is the universal recipient. WRONG. Type O is the universal donor. Another stay in the hospital, where the surgeon told me the documents were wrong. I had received the right blood during my surgery. WRONG again. I insisted they call the blood bank with me on the line and it was confirmed that yes indeed I had receive the wrong blood during surgery. It is quite rare to receive the wrong type blood by today's standards and quality control procedures, yet Augusta Medical managed to not follow the quality procedures they have in place. Bottom line, I do not recommend anyone going to Augusta Medical Center for treatment or the hospital. I was lucky. I survived the myriad mistakes and failure to diagnose my ruptured spleen quickly, and failure to give me a transfusion of correct blood and the incompetence of the ER doc who did not know the basics of what blood types are incompatible. I was my own advocate. You may not be so lucky.
