Believe EVERY 5-star review!!!!! Brian was so personable and assured I felt comfortable and confident. His work speaks for itself if you take a look at what he has done. His images are of some of the highest quality. I LOVED my photos (they were my first headshots) and I certainly, without an inkling of doubt, plan to return in the future for more work. Brian was so outstanding that he could not be praised any higher, truly!!!

Honestly such a great experience over all, Brian has a great energy and knows exactly what looks good and how to achieve it, it was the most at-ease Ive ever felt at a shoot ever. I highly recommend.

tl;dr: If you have severe photo anxiety like me, steer clear. I went in for headshots for my first book--something I should be celebrating--but now am in the terrible situation where I have no photos that I can use after paying $550 to this studio. Long version: When I first contacted this studio, I was very upfront about my severe anxiety around getting studio headshots. I asked if they were equipped to handle this/could provide a pleasant experience. They said yes, although I came to find out they very clearly could not. They were extremely poor in their communications. My arrival was the very first time the photographer even spoke to me. I expected a detailed conversation once there, but even then he barely spoke to me--never once asking me about my vision for the photo, or even anything about me. Then, the makeup artist didn't listen when I said I wanted "light makeup" and that I "barely wear any" makeup. Instead, she plastered my face; I was barely recognizable as myself. I went to the bathroom and scrubbed it off, crying, and had to redo the makeup myself. (But now had a red face and eyes, and some wet hair around my face.) At this point, I had no choice but to move forward because I was on a deadline with my press to get them a portrait--and, although I was traumatized, I was still hopeful the photographer could turn things around. But, again, instead of having any kind of humanizing conversation, the photographer started clicking away. I knew the photos would be terrible--the makeup artist hadn't even touched my hair, as promised in communications before the session. And, I began to cry again. In response, the photographer demanded that I "shift the mood," even though that was precisely what I'd hired him to do--to help make *me* feel comfortable, not the other way around! I felt incredibly on the spot, being under a deadline, but having received exactly the opposite of what I was expecting when I arrived at the studio. I worked up every last ounce of energy to fake a smile and finish the session. Needless to say, a week later when I received the photos they were terrible. Most terrible of all wasn't even my discomfort, it was the styling. My hair looked wet and limp, the lighting was harsh, the background washed out my skin tone. All incredibly poor choices of a studio unwilling to communicate. On top of an unkind/bad experience. It was my worst nightmare. I made a reasonable request that the studio return a portion of my money, given that I did not receive the services I paid for. I acknowledged the photographer's time and the makeup artist's time, but did not want to be forced to pay for things I did not receive (i.e., a studio with experience with someone who has true photo anxiety, makeup and hair done to specification, an image that resembled the vision I had for the photo; I also did not have the photographer do any retouching as there were no good shots to retouch). And of course, the photographer was incredibly unkind in his response and refused. So, I'm out $550 and have no headshots. I have no idea what to do now. I hope this review protects others from future financial and emotional harm. Perhaps instead of taking someone's money, hopefully the studio will say, "No, we are not equipped for people with photo anxiety," instead of taking advantage of vulnerable people. Or maybe this will help others in a similar situation avoid them altogether. I wish someone had warned me. As for my book, well, I guess I'll have to use a selfie. :'(

Hi Cassidy,I’m so sorry my studio didn’t meet the expectations you had for your shoot. I take pride in providing a safe and inclusive space for everyone, especially individuals with anxiety about having their photo taken. As we’ve discussed privately, the events that you’re describing are inconsistent with our account. However, feedback is always valued, and we wish you the best.-Brian
