La Grotta Ristorante

We visited La Grotta for the first time yesterday. I was looking forward to this restaurant for a very long time. I was disappointed. It's a noisy open space. Not too cozy. Our server was an unpleasant person. Food was ok. Subpar in my opinion.It cannot be said that it is a real Ristorante Italiano. There are much better Italian restaurants in Atlanta.

We arrived without a reso.seems silly but we were not wanting to go anywhere else and I had a friend in town. The staff was super accommodating at getting us seated and were attentive throughout the entire meal. The food was DELICIOUS (that is what I wish other pastas tasted like), the wine list was great and the overall experience was just fantastic. Definitely in my top 3 spots now.

I enjoyed dinner with my boyfriend at this clean and authentic establishment. However, the food itself was subpar, I fine dine frequently, most recently going to Malios in Tampa Florida. The escargot there was lovely as well as the one here at la Grotta. But the burrata cheese lacked flavor, and the bread was rustic but yet again lacked flavor. The olive oil was served without any herbs or seasoning, which is fine, but it didnt taste like a cold pressed olive oil so I was confused on why it was served so basic. Their wine list is insanely huge, and you would assume that you could find something for everyone. Unfortunately for me I like champagne, and they only have 2-3 champagnes they sell by the glass and they are all bitter. So I had to settle with a moscato that wasnt that good. My partner doesnt too much care for wines, hes more of a whiskey drinker. Although the establishment was beautiful, and the food was authentic Im very disappointed in the initial experience me and my boyfriend had to face. Given the amount of time this establishment has been around I expected to be experiencing something better than Flemings but the food didnt live up to the expectations. My waiter was absolutely amazing and gave great suggestions for our meals and desserts. He was attentive, funny , and accommodating to all of our requests. I hope to return in the future and to be greeted with a better, more tasteful experience at La Grotta.

Excellent Atlanta staple. Get reservations and enjoy the classic and authentic Italian cuisine!
