Ballard Law Group agreed to take me on as a client. After I sent them my personal information(W2s, SSN, Paystubs, ID, etc.), Cha' Ron dropped me as a client. There was no legitimate explanation given as to why I was dropped as a client, she just simply did not want to take my case. In the future, DO NOT request personal documentation from people you will NOT be representing. People have a RIGHT to privacy. I was also told by Charon that I did not qualify for a certain Chapter. The was determined to be a LIE. I do NOT recommend this law firm.

I would like to start off by saying I hardly ever leave reviews, especially bad ones. I was really excited about working with Charons firm to file my chapter 7. At first, the customer service was amazing, the communication was thorough, I felt in great hands. I started my process July 2023. This review is not intended to "slander" anyone but to provide an honest experience that I had with Charon Ballard. Transparently, in July of 2023 my job went out of business. Leaving me unemployed; however you do not have to be employed to file a chapter 7. Charon refused to represent me for my 341 hearing, although I had paid my filing fee in full. I literally was one payment behind due to loosing my job but had family willing to assist until my unemployment started or I got a new job. She advised me to get a new job within 30 days and to contact her when I do. I secured a new job within the 30 day mark reached out to Charon and was told my case is being dismissed. No only did my case get dism issed, but it was due to failure to appear for the 341 hearing that Charon was to have rescheduled 30 days out and failure to pay my court fees. Charon Ballard had informed me that I didnt need to attend the 1st one. Charon also had me on a payment plan at the court house for my filing fee, when my first payment was made in full to cover my credit report and filing fee (seems unethical). I didnt know any of this until I inquired with another attorney to get a second opinion on my case and they shared with me all of this. I never wanted to be put on a payment plan for my court fees hence why I paid them in full in July. Charon emails me back in November 2023 after my case has already been dismissed for 1-2 months to say the court fees had been paid. That same attorney checked the system, Charon had just paid my court fees yesterday after I inquired about the $888 I had already invested into this process with her on 11/3/23. Keep in mind my filing fees were paid by me to Charon in full July 2023. Now I have to refile my bankruptcy. Credit wise its going to look like two bankruptcies when Charon couldve better assisted me. Instead I feel taken advantage of and misinformed. If you are looking to file bankruptcy look elsewhere. Charon is unethical and I will be reporting her to the bar and trustee as every attorney I have spoken with suggested. Every attorney I have spoken with all have stated that she did not have to let my case get dismissed. Even if she was concerned about getting paid, she couldve rescheduled my 341 hearing. You dont need a job to file chapter 7. BEAWARE FOLKS! Oh and she wanted me to pay an additional $1400 to refile my case. Lady are you crazy! I already invest $888 she did not allocate the funds appropriately and left me a balance with the FEDERAL court. She cleared the balance, when I brought it to her attention months later, however it just still seems unethical. Nonetheless Mrs. Vicki her assistant is a sweetheart but can only do so much; shes not the attorney.

Hi Tassan, we value all client feedback, even the negative, but it’s important I clarify the circumstances that led us here. You were referred to Ballard Law Group by a current client who’s been quite pleased with our services to date. We offer all clients a free, initial consultation and qualification assessment and in your case, we provided two; however, at no time during those sessions did our firm agree to take you on as a client. We discussed the feasibility of filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, but neither The Ballard Law Group nor any law firm can determine an individual’s eligibility to file for bankruptcy without a review of verifiable income and assets. As such, you submitted your documentation to determine if you qualified for a Chapter 7 filing, and unfortunately you did not based on the financial information you provided to our office. We treat ALL personal, financial documentation supplied to our firm with the utmost confidentiality as required by the Georgia bar. A Chapter 7 bankruptcy case is a 3-to-4-month process while a Chapter 13 is a 3-to-5-year process. When you didn’t qualify for a Chapter 7, your only other bankruptcy option was a Chapter 13 and regrettably, our firm was not in position to assist you with the filing of your Chapter 13 bankruptcy case. It is the policy of Ballard Law Group to decline representation if we are not confident we can meet the unique needs of a potential client.I am truly sorry we were unable to help you, but it is essential you work with a law firm that can accommodate your needs and meet your expectations, especially for a prolonged bankruptcy case such as a Chapter 13. This is precisely why we offered to refer you to another law firm. We wish you a prosperous year and we hope you receive the debt relief you deserve.

Hello Ms. Tinker, While I welcome feedback – positive and critical – from all my clients, I am extremely disappointed to read this review since it includes some misleading information and excludes some important context and facts. The entire team at my firm takes great pride in delivering top-notch customer service and expert legal counsel to each of our clients, and our five-star reviews reflect that. I would like to take this opportunity to address each of your concerns and allegations: 1. Though you most certainly do not need a job to file a Chapter 7, you DO need proof of income to reaffirm (keep) your vehicle when filing a Chapter 7, which you expressed a desire to do. As I previously explained, you must demonstrate both to the Court and your car creditor that the car payment will be financially feasible. 2. Although our firm frequently takes on pro bono cases, your case was not among them, and as such we mutually agreed upon an installment payment plan to cover legal fees. Ms. Tinker, we discovered you lost your job only AFTER your installment payments were declined. We reached out to you for a new payment arrangement which you were unable to provide. 3. When your original 341-hearing was scheduled for August 15, 2023, the Court mailed you notice of the hearing, and our firm also e-mailed you a copy of the notice. As discussed, and agreed upon, I appeared at the hearing on your behalf and requested the hearing be rescheduled. The hearing was rescheduled for Sept 8, 2023. The Court mailed you the notice of the rescheduled date on August 21, 2023 (noted on the Court Docket #17), and once again you failed to appear. 4. In short, you missed both the original and rescheduled hearing, you are unable and/or unwilling to pay our attorney fees in full, yet somehow that is our fault rather than your obligation and responsibility. Your Court filing fee has been paid in full. Of the $888.00 you paid to The Ballard Law Group, $338 was paid to the Court on your behalf, $50 was paid to pull your credit report, and the remaining $500 applied to your $1,500 attorney fee balance. Ms. Tinker, in full transparency, I instructed my team members to decline the refile of your case due to the challenges of working with you. We are a boutique law firm that specializes in customized solutions delivered with excellent, empathetic customer service. However, we are unable to accommodate back-to-back calls -- some of which concluded with you hanging up on our support staff -- as well as countless text messages and emails with unrealistic demands. Thus, as soon as we recognize we cannot meet the needs of a client such as yourself, it is our policy to decline representation. We pride ourselves on removing the stress and frustration from filing bankruptcy, and I am sorry you had the experience you had and feel the way you do. We wish you nothing but the best and hope you achieve the debt and stress relief you deserve.
