It only takes one dishonest, dark soul to ruin an otherwise enjoyable vacation. I'm sure I'll get some superfluous apology for the unfortunate experience, but that will not change the fact that a Hilton Embassy Suites employee went through my wallet and stole $200 cash.
After taking my luggage out to the car, I realized my wallet was missing. I went back to the room to check for it. It was about 5 minutes total between the time I left the room with the luggage and the time I returned to look for the missing wallet but in that time someone had gone through the room to empty garbage and take the used towels. I looked through the room but found nothing. So, I went to the front desk to ask who had gone through the room already but they couldn't find the person. So they called for the housekeeping supervisor who went through the empty room with me. While I was looking under a table, she found it conspicuously hiding behind the tv. I opened it immediately and found 2 one hundred dollar bills missing. So, I talked with the hotel manager who took my name and number. Needless to say, I was a bit angry and unimpressed by their response. Had I been staying in a budget motel, I might not be surprised, but an Embassy Suites?

Have to rant: We have been loyal, satisfied Hilton customers for 23 years, staying at no other hospitality chain since our visit to San Diego during Spring Break 2001. For the first time, we experienced an unpleasant Hilton property stay, at the Embassy Suites in Alpharetta, GA. It is supposedly a 4-star hotel. The first room we were given was musty and old, and every piece of furniture was stained. We switched rooms, to find the mini-fridge broken. The food we had bought at Whole Foods was thankfully put in the staff fridge at the front desk while the new mini-fridge cooled, but, aggravatingly, the next morning, we discovered some of it had been stolen by a staff member. We then had to re-shop for food, soaking up valuable time on our vacation. The phone system was broken in the hotel, prohibiting us from calling the front desk from either the room or our cell phones. Talk about a safety concern! The indoor swimming pool contained green fungus on the steps and mold on the drains, and was therefore unusable. I booked this particular Embassy specifically because it had an indoor pool. On the last night of our stay, our daughter found a 1.5"-2" long cockroach in the bathroom. My husband caught it and put it in a baggie; I brought it to the front desk. A maintenance man actually tried to bug bomb the room with us in it. The hotel was sold out that night, so there was nowhere for us to go at 10:00 p.m. How the hotel expected us to stay in a room after it had been bug bombed is beyond me; staying in a room infested with bugs that night was less than pleasant. Currently, our luggage is in the garage to ensure any potential eggs do not enter our house. What a pain! The general manager of the hotel was unapologetic; Hilton Honors has refused to adjust our bill. Their rationale is that because we used some points for our stay (earned from our $3,500 visit in NYC over Thanksgiving), we do not deserve an adjustment... As such, we will try a Marriott property on our next trip. What a disappointment. I am just so disgusted with Hilton after a nearly quarter-century loyalty. This company-- not just the particular hotel-- honestly has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Saying OUR stay experience is not typical does not EXCUSE that this WAS the experience we HAD. If I could give this property a ZERO star, then I would.
