I have a 7 month old cocker spaniel and have been bringing her to Bells Ferry from the day I brought her home. They have handled her and myself with much care. She actually gets really excited to see her Vet and the lovely knowledgeable staff which is something Ive never seen with any animal having to attend a veterinary office. I recently moved to midtown I refuse to change her vet to a more local location because of how much trust I have in them, including my dogs comfortability. Shes recently been spayed at the hospital and her recovery has gone amazing. I definitely recommend brining your pets here

Terrible experience, from start to finish. My dog was seen at Bells Ferry a month ago and I'm still upset. WORST vet experience in 40 years of taking pets to vets, in all aspects. I called to make an appointment and was given one for early the next morning. That sent up warning bells because most places are busy! I explained that I would pick up the medical records from the previous vet. The receptionist said 3 times that they would handle it. I show up the next morning at 9 am for a 9 am appointment and we wait, and wait. Then, after 10 minutes we're taken to a room where the vet assistant asks all the regular questions. After several minutes of this, she opens my dog's chart...and there isn't anything in it. No medical records. I say, "Where are the medical records? How can you examine my dog without knowing her history?" The vet assistant says she'll check with the receptionist, but she continues to chat. Time goes by. She finally leaves to talk with the receptionist. She comes back to say the vet records never arrived and the receptionist is calling to get them. The vet tech says she'll take my dog to the back for a heartworm test, even though she's not sure my dog can have the 12-month heartworm vaccine because it's a month too early. The tech doesn't find out the answer but pokes my dog anyway. (It was too early, so my dog was poked for no reason.) A few minutes go by and I wonder how long it takes to get a few drops of blood. My dog returns with the vet, who says she examined my dog in the back. "What? What do you mean you examined my dog in the back?" Dr. Temple looked me in the eye and said, "You made us late because your vet did not send over the medical records." I was dumbfounded! She continued, "The next patient is waiting, so we need to make up time, so we examined your animal (did not use my pet's name) in the back because that is the fastest way and we don't want to keep the next patient waiting, now do we." Great, my dog got a "really fast exam" that I wasn't present for. And, I don't care about the next patient, I want a thorough exam of my pet! How dare they decide, without telling me (I would have said no) to examine my dog away from me? How do I know what kind of exam she received? I like to hear the vet say...eyes look clear, heart sounds strong, ears are clean, teeth look great, etc. I was deprived of that opportunity and to ask questions during the exam. Don't we all pay for peace of mind knowing that our pet has received a thorough exam and is healthy? They (vet asst, receptionist, and manager/co-owner) defended their practice of "examining animals in the back" by saying that many owners don't want to be in the room when their pets are examined. Really? I've known hundreds of pet owners who would say exactly the opposite. And Dr. Temple? Rude and her judgement is wrong. I was not to blame, or in the wrong, for any of what happened. When I spoke to the manager and expressed concern, he said that I could bring my dog back and Dr. Temple would examine her in front of me, but frankly, if I saw Dr. Temple again, I don't think I would be able to avoid some unfortunate words. And, I don't trust her judgement. You shouldn't either. I just made an appointment to take my dog to Allatoona Animal Hospital (where I had taken my other dog; I really liked them) so I can have the peace of mind that she is getting a thorough exam. Everyone at Allatoona is helpful, informed and the vet, Dr. Landau, spent a lot of time with us. Plus, he explained that he prefers the chewable monthly heartworm med because there are new studies showing that the 12-month heartworm vaccine loses efficacy against some parasites in months 10-11. Bells Ferry doesn't know the latest science, because I asked which was better: monthly chewable or 12-month vaccine, and they said they performed the same and it was my preference. I want the best for my dogs, as I'm sure we all do. Please avoid Bells Ferry. There's something very wrong there. And, I highly recommend Allatoona Animal Hospital!
