I had bilateral SI joint blocks done at this facility on 1/31/2024. All of the staff there was absolutely wonderful, particularly the pre-op nurse Charis. She and the rest of the staff took excellent care of me!

My spine surgeon, Dr. Samuel A. Joseph uses this facility and frankly I am VERY happy he chose to do my spine surgery here rather than a hospital. I am an extremely particular patient when it comes to cleanliness and professionalism of a facility and staff and the team at Advanced Surgery Center exceeded all of my expectations. From my pre-op call with Chris who was patient and answered all of my questions (and came to say hello to me before pre-op) to Olivia at check-in (who is happy at 6am? She was!) and Charis my pre-op nurse who was not just kind but also very good at getting the IV into my really awful veins. I had a bad reaction to some pre-op meds that left me severely dehydrated but she took her time and with both of our patience she was able to connect. Dr. Lazar (anesthesiologist) was waiting to step in but Charis and I prevailed. Dr. Lazar took my suggestions into consideration since I wear a 780g medtronic insulin pump that I insisted I keep on during surgery (it was not in the way of the spine surgery) and I appreciated his understanding. Liz and Justin were my surgical nurse/tech team and while I only vaguely remember them (IV drugs) they must have done a great job since I didn't wake up during surgery. Julie my PACU nurse finished off the surgery and Charis came back to help me dress back into my pajamas (seriously don't get 'dressed' for surgery. You're going home to go to rest in bed. Wear your best pajamas). My surgeon had to a 'little extra' so my surgery took longer than expected. For those of you who complained that you had an 'appointment' please understand that there are times a surgeon has to do a bit more than they planned on due to damage not visible by MRI's, X-Rays, CT Scans (all of which I had multiple times). If your loved one was one in need of extra time by the surgeon you would want them to have it. I am 6 days post-op and Charis called to check on me day one post-op (she's so good). I didn't have this surgery because I wanted to (someone chose to be reckless and hurt me badly) and given the choice I would never do it again but I am so relieved to be getting better from the excruciating pain I was living in. Dr. Sam Joseph is amazing. Trust his hands and those of the staff at Advanced Surgery Center of Tampa.

Going to a place for surgery is always intimidating. I have to say that I am very impressed with this facility. I just love the pre-op nurse, Sophie. She has a very nurturing personality. Nurse Sherry made me feel very comfortable getting ready for the sI joint fusion. Dr Lazar was great about telling me what to expect. Dr. Patel and Dr Reeves did a great job, I hope! Time will tell! I didnt expect the muscular pain though! Im 2 days post-op and hoping the muscle soreness goes away soon!

Went here a couple of days ago for SI joint fusing, which I wasnt crazy about doing, but other than really hurting in the recovery area, I learned what super dedicated the entire staff is. From the minute I finished with registration, having a nurse (Julie)who could find a vein on the first attempt, to Olivia who checked me in, Kelly, the OR nurse who was so compassionate to the anesthesiologist, Dr. Mark Lazar, who spent quality time with me and kept us posted as to when I would have surgery, I never felt slighted or ignored throughout the entire process. My undying gratitude to Julie who is now the nurse by which all others are judged, gave me outstanding support and encouragement when I was at my worst. And of course, my surgeon, Dr. Sunil Panchal, who is one of the best surgeons I have ever met! His concern for his patients is extraordinary and his serious demeanor is appreciated when you are hurting and scared. Thank you, one and all, for your outstanding care!
