BUYER BEWARE Posted Dec 19, 2023 on WSB-TV in Atlanta: Families paid tens of thousands of dollars in down payments to have their backyards transformed, but the landscaper took their money and left town, leaving yards all over metro Atlanta a mess. Channel 2 consumer investigator Justin Gray has learned that police are now investigating the landscaper who has left the state. Tara Lockridges backyard is finally a construction zone. We just had to cut back everywhere, Lockbridge said. It was supposed to be done by Thanksgiving of last year. Lockridge hired Ideal Landscape Solutions in the summer of 2022. We looked at Google reviews. We actually went out to three different customer sites. I got the insurance certificate for the company, Lockbridge said. The Tangs also did a lot of research for their Milton backyard renovation with Ideal Landscape Solutions. The company left materials piled up in their backyard and that was as far as construction ever got after the Tangs paid a $60,000 deposit. They took our money and never did anything. You know, then theres no demolition, no construction, Justin Tang said. A new contractor was brought in to clean up the mess after the Lockbridges paid Ideal more than $45,000, and ended up with a backyard left in ruins. The work that was done had to be torn down because that wasnt to engineering standards. So, I mean, we basically got nothing for our money, Lockbridge said. Lockridge told Gray that she only discovered Ideal had apparently abandoned Georgia when the head of the company, Joseph Hayes, failed to show up for yet another meeting at her home.

Contractor left job incomplete, still owes us money along with many others. They have completely ghosted us. So sad to also hear of so many other families who lost tens of thousands and some hundreds of thousands of dollars to ILS

Contractor has left my job at approximately 25% complete but taken my 50% deposit. Project has been in flight for over a year. Requested a plan for completion with progress dates and did not receive one. Communication has stopped. Have requested a refund of the portion of deposit related to work not completed with no response. I have found a new company to take over project. They inspected work completed and found numerous significant engineering issues to point that retaining walls had to be removed. The new contractor has provided a timeline to complete the project of approximately 3 weeks. I am out $50K+ not including the property damage to my driveway, sprinkler system, drainage system and more.

I contracted Ideal Landscape Solutions LLC for a pool and yard hardscape & landscape project in January '23. Currently, the project is 95% paid and only 42% is performed in terms of cost. Status requests and direct questions to Heather Hayes, Joey Hayes, Mike Simmons, and Tyler Smith were largely ignored and the vast majority of answers that were given were lies. Intentional deception and intentional misrepresentation are clear with respect to my last milestone payment and I highly suspect have been going on since the beginning of my contract. There is no evidence that Ideal Landscape Solutions LLC will complete the work or issue a refund for work paid but not performed, but there is evidence to the contrary. Additionally, a subcontractor came to my home complaining that he was owed by Ideal Landscape Solutions LLC; the porta john that Ideal Landscape Solutions LLC ordered and left in my front yard for five months was recently removed for nonpayment. In addition to the financial matters, Ideal Landscape Solutions LLC abandoned my property with hazards in some areas, including no safe way to exit the back of my home. What is not hazardous looks like a blight, excavated dirt is suffocating numerous trees, and I could go on with county inspections and other matters. There are at least eight other Ideal Landscape Solutions LLC contracts in which (Georgia) clients are in similar situations, based on online reviews and personal communication in several cases; I'd bet there are more. Stay away.
