If you are a parent and is having problems with a teenager who has mental health problems, this organization is not going to help you. If you are a Christian please look for support from your church or Christian organization. This Henderson Health mobile crisis unit is not going to help you. For one they take very long time to come and when they come they have an attitude. I had a middle age black woman and gay black guy enter my house and offered to place my daughter in a LBGT community shelter. I call about my daughter behavior, because she was not taking her bipolar medication. She curses at me and her five year old sister. Behavior is out of control because we relocate to Florida and she dont like Florida because she cant get to smoke drugs like she wants too. There is no support from this organization to help parents. My suggestion have cameras in your house to record your childs behavior. Your best bet is calling 911, the Cops is the ones that help me and have my child baker act. I dont wish this experience on no one. Not much help in the state of Florida. Henderson Health is my worst experience in trying to get help for my child.

Late last night, i (22f) was taken here by the BSO after a family argument where my parents called the police and attempted to have me baker acted even though i was not suicidal at all.. by the time they called 911 i was pretty calm already and taking a walk through the neighborhood to give them space. The police soon called me on my phone and stated I wasnt in trouble but they needed my side of the story. When i was with the cops i explained myself calmly and clearly but was basically told i had no choice but to be handcuffed & taken with them to either a hospital or Henderson Behavioral as this type of call is a liability for the police and under Florida law they were required to. I had never heard of this place but I reluctantly agreed as i wanted to avoid the hospital at all costs. When i arrived around 10pm i was immediately welcomed and helped by Ms. Sabrina who was awesome. She was very empathetic and listened to my side of the story with care. She asked respectful and thoughtful questions during my roughly hour long intake session. I called my family and talked to them as well. My parents were still angry and we all agreed that it would be best if i stayed there until the morning. They gave me snacks, clothes and a shower. I was able to keep my phone to talk to friends and my supportive boyfriend. They never treated me like a criminal or a threat as many hospitals and of course the BSO does. They treat you like a normal human experiencing a mental health issue.. and they are very empathetic and understand how stressful the experience of being detained is This morning my parents agreed to let me come home and as soon as I had a place to return to I was given a BCT all day bus pass and told to get home safely. I was given resources, pamphlets and my original clothes and i was out of the building by 8:00am. So yeah my night kinda sucked!! But the staff at Henderson were actually cool and Id encourage anyone who is detained by police for mental health to come here. Its way better than the hospital!

TL;DR: Dr. Mansoor Shoukat is a horrible psychiatrist and this facility should really consider letting him go due to his lack of knowledge on the very products and patients he works with. The facility seems decent but the psychiatrist I was assigned to (Dr. Mansoor Shoukat) was very unprofessional and didn't seem too well educated on how medications work. When I told him I wanted to try a new medication rather than going back on my old one (I had been off all medications for over six months due to complications with finding a provider within my network), he became noticeably upset at the idea, maybe a bit angry? it was weird. While I agreed when he said that it's best to go with a medication that worked, I explained to him how I was developing a tolerance to the old one and I wanted to test run a new one to have a potential fallback for when I start growing a tolerance again. He continued to persist on the fact that it's best to go with one that is known to work and to just simply up the dose whenever a tolerance starts to developed. I then proceeded to explain how just upping the dose contains its own dangers where it could leave me more at risk for developing unwanted side effects and possibly even cause complications on my body in general (especially considering I had already gone beyond the max recommended dose by the time I ran out of the old medication). He not only disagreed with that notion, but he started laughing quite condescendingly while disagreeing, throwing his arms up in the air as if *I* was the moron in the room. His unprofessionalism and poor knowledge in *his own career* left me very unsatisfied to say the least. I give this place 1 star because even just one bad psychiatrist is enough to make it a place I wouldn't recommend anyone to go to. I mean, who knows how many more of these disrespectful imbeciles this facility has? Unacceptable all around. Mental health has enough stigma set on itself as is, these idiotic doctors just make it even worse. Do better, please.
