I knew when I was hired as the DORS at The Beacon in June 2023, I had a huge mess to clean up. I was warned in my interview even. It was a nightmare from day one. More than I ever could have imagined. Threatened by disgruntled staff, no real training on anything,and then the ED was fired. An interim ED from Corporate was brought in. Awful experience. She was a bully and had me doing things to make her look better, not my nursing job. In my time there, I brought up standards in clinical. Our QA in Clinical came up almost 20 points. I did a damn good job in my role. Was it perfect? Nope. I was only one person and begged for a nursing assistant. That wasn't in the budget but new model furniture always is. I couldn't take it anymore. The last straw was promoting the Maintenance Director to ED. He had no clue. No CORE Training. Something I have never done before, I left with no notice. It became toxic and a real mess. My physical health was taking a toll. I tried many times to go to my divisional nurse for help, advice, suggestions,nut nothing. I left many things undone because there just wasn't enough time. SRI is all about money, not resident care or the wonderful hardworking staff. I can say I learned valuable lessons in my 10 months in The Beacon. If you want to be appreciated and feel valued, do not go to SRI communities.

SRI is a world-class organization that truly cares about its employees, and the people in their care. Management are honest, fair, and always pleasant to deal with.
