Retrofit Records

My wife and I went to this store today. We agreed the ambiance was super cool. The reviews on google are realistic, although I didnt find the owner particularly rude, I wouldnt say he was particularly welcoming. We didnt feel very encouraged to look around the store as he kept asking us if we needed help finding anything (4 times in 10 minutes). Again, the store looked very cool and I wish I felt more comfortable there, but the owner had to go on his lunch break so we had to leave quickly. I wish we were allowed more space and time to explore and enjoy.

I went here 3 times and really try to shop locally as much as I can, but I'd rather give Jeff Bezos money than support the owner of this record store. The first time I felt super unwelcomed by him when I first moved to Tallahassee and was just looking around. The second time I went to order my fianc a vinyl for his birthday and the girl behind the counter was nice and helpful, she ordered it, called me when it came in, and I told her I'd be there on Friday to pick it up because I had to work M-Th. I came there on Friday and he put it out in the store, but instead of just going to grab it where he put it, he just pointed to the corner for me to go dig for it myself and then scolded me for not picking it up on Thursday. The miscommunication is not the issue, but the unwarranted rudeness was, especially when I could have just ordered the vinyl for cheaper online. Even though Real Cool Time Records doesn't have the most modern selection, at least you feel like they want you to shop there. Also, Barnes and Noble on N. Monroe has a small, but good, selection... if you didn't know.

2:10 -I LTE AA Q retrofit records Retrofit Records Posting publicly across Google I DO NOT recommend going to this place. We drove over a hour to come to this place because my children love records and old tapes. They were both kneeled looking at a tape crate and I snapped a pic of MY CHILDREN and the man says " no taking pictures in here ". I was not about to spend my money in that store after that rude comment-we left without purchasing anything we intended to come for. I'll go elsewhere and give them my business. If anyone is wanting a very welcoming friendly record store I would recommend the other one across town in Tallahassee.

Pretty impressive selection of a wide variety of music. Average prices like all record stores these days, but they have plenty of stuff other area stores do not ever carry. My one experience here was great - staff was friendly and customer service was good! My time looking was limited because they had to close early to set up for a free concert that night, but you can't be mad about that! Awesome that they're trying to provide the community with entertainment. If only other places in town would put that kind of effort out!
