    Why is there both a $50 screening fee and then a $250 non-refundable application fee? What costs justify the latter fee? Answer my question and I'll revise my review accordingly.

    Stay away! Royal American Management took over about 4 months ago and they don't believe in maintenance, cleaning, customer service. They only want their $. Don't let them bully you if you still live there. Just get out.

    I was ready to move in on the 13th of the month. 4 days before Im told that the apartment has not been cleaned or repaired yet. Looked at another apartment which was totally filthy and disgusting. The smell of smoke and burn holes in the carpet. I did not sign any paperwork or lease, I requested my deposit back and was told that it was non refundable which was untrue. I was told that the application fee was non refundable. The deposit was refundable. Th his is how they scam the elderly that are on a fixed income. I have called the management company in Washington and no return call. No one answers the phones, just leave messages. I would advise anyone looking for an apartment to look elsewhere. Ive contacted elder abuse and now going to contact my attorney.

    I have lived at Jamestown Woods for over 5 years and over the years we have seen many different managers, managing companies, and maintenance men. With each new batch of people, the handling and management of these apartments gets worse and worse. These apartments primarily rent out to the elderly which makes this even worse. When one is considering renting an apartment, one sacrifices paying down a mortgage that allows them to own the property one day and gains the benefit of not having to pay or deal with the structural maintenance and other repairs of the dwelling. This is generally considered to be maintenance and upkeep. Currently the apartment complex does not, I repeat, does not have a maintenance man on staff. Without a maintenance man, this has forced restrictive services to the apartments. I have heard from others who live here that they have had pending service requests for maintenance to fix or replace an appliance or item in their apartment for weeks and soon to be months . Some of these items are quality of life items such as garbage disposal, While others could be considered safety hazards . Please do note that the words "service requests" was made in plural for a reason. That is because I myself and others have many different issues wrong not just one simple tiny issue or request . Without a maintenance man, other services are also Limited. What is meant by this, is that Pest Control is only possible if you are home at a time period to which is known to you less than 24 hours beforehand and is at hours to which many are at work. In addition, any notice for any reason is given to you less than 24 hours before the event, such as inspections or air filter changes. So if you were thinking of moving in be mindful that they do not accommodate the working class very well and I wish you the best of luck if anything were to break. I also feel obligated to let you know that the appliances are very old and some of which do not work as intended by the manufacturer. As I feel obligated to say something positive as I gave them one star and not zero I would say that you do get what you pay for and you do not pay a lot. These apartments are cheaper than any Apartments you're probably going to find especially in this location so they do have that going for them.
