John's Guide Service - Steinhatchee FL

Two couples fished with John ( John's Guide Service)out of Steinhatchee, FL on May the 2nd,2023. He was late on HID suggested pick-up time. Then he had to go to another marina to obtain live shrimp bait. While fishing, he sat in his chair, back of boat, and fished 80% of the time. He blocked off the stern of the boat for any of us to fish back of boat. The two men were experienced fishermen, but when the women caught any fish, which were few and far between, he offered no help in removing the hooks or rebaiting there hooks. One of the women fell, broke one of his rods. He charged $100.00 for the rod, which I am sure was probably much less cost for him.( I know the cost of various rods) All in all, we paid him to go out so he could spend the day fishing, without doing the things that a good fishing guide would do for their clients. We do not recommend this guide service.

This was my familys first time to Steinatchee FL and John made us feel right at home. He took myself and my family to gather scallops and trout fishing. We didnt leave empty handed or disappointed. Boat set up is great and John is extremely knowledgeable of fishing (his great personality is a plus) we can not wait for our next trip.

Fantastic fishing experience. Took my younger daughter with me and we both limited on trout and each caught a redfish. Really seemed like Captain John was knowledgeable of the area and he was efficient. Look him up.
