I bet many fear leaving a bad review since they control a huge part of commercial real estate in Sarasota and dont want to be blackballed by this company. Fifty something reviews is extremely low for someone their size Robbins acquired the management of a space we had been leasing for years at about the time our lease was up. Their first communication with us was a 30% hike on rent, so we asked if it was ok to try to negotiate with the owner, and their short and rude reply on the phone was, you can ask for whatever you want, and well take it to the owner not mentioning we could potentially be evicted. Lo and behold, the response from the owner was to be out in 15 days. We asked to pay for the original increased price of 30% more, which they declined. They just wanted us out now (because we tried to negotiate). By law, we didnt have any recourses. Robbins knew this. It took us months, letters, a bad review, and many threats to get our deposit back from Robbins. I since had deleted the review, but something tells me that, if some of us dont have the courage to communicate this to others for fear of them, then how would people know? They were cold, short, and treated us in despair. That taste wont soon leave our mouth about the name Robbins. It saddens me to see their signs everywhere and know that our business may have to avoid leasing space in town just due to that name. I really hope they have since begun treating tenants with more respect.
