Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Sarasota

Our story! I can 100% say Im very well acquainted with the best rehabilitation hospitals on the entire East Coast of the USA. Encompass (Sarasota) is by far the best rehabilitation of them all to receive the highest level of physical recovery possible. We started with them in 1991 when they were the The Rehabilitation Institute of Sarasota, then HealthSouth & now go be Encompass. My son suffered an extremely severe Traumatic Brain injury in a motor Vehicle accident near Baltimore, Maryland and was so badly injured that the Drs. said he was basically brain dead & actually didnt encourage any type of life enhancing treatment, so I offered him to be an organ donator. However legally they have to wait 72 hours to harvest a persons organs. He was placed on ventilator and IV antibiotics to keep his organs working. After 72 hours the did the required brain activity test and told me there was still a bit of brain activity and that be law the would have to start acute measures to save him, but still no guess as to him every Coming or of a coma. He survived the surgery and although slowly show possible positive signs of slight improvement and was evaluated for a coma stimulation rehab hospital. We went to the top rehabilitation hospital outside of Philadelphia. The rehab hospital remained negative about any significant cute progress still. It took almost 18 mos of slow back and forth progress before he was beginning to show alertness. By then we still had a home in S. Venice, Fl, that was perfect for handicapped accessibility so we searched the Sarasota for rehabilitation here. We found RIS, now is Encompass, and took the chance and his recovery has been astounding. Not only did they project a positive vibes but worked with him As compassionately as if he was their one of their own Beloved family member. Getting him as a patient is something Ive never regretted and we are now back with them for my sons rehab recovery from an orthopedic injury. I cannot say how highly I think-of the Staff at Encompass for helping bring him back as much of his life as God has permitted. E compass has been a wonderful experience and I look forward and feel total confidence in a good out come with there as a patient once more. Thank you Encompass!!

I was extremely pleased with the excellent care and treatment I received after my cervical spinal surgery. The facility is first-rate, well-managed with a staff of doctors, nurses, therapists, etc. who perform their duties always with a smile on their faces. A special shout-out to my physical & occupation therapist team consisting of Caroline, Kim, Cindy & others. The nurses and nurse assistants were extremely accommodating to my needs and I highly recommend this facility to anyone in need in southwest Florida.

Waiting too long for assistant, I need my painkiller for a 2 hours and nothing. Me as a patient I have to wait a lot avery long time for they to come.

As a practicing physician, I was a patient at encompass health. I was treated extremely well and received first class service both in the hospital side and the rehab side of this facility. The staff was extremely helpful and caring. They actually made me feel special thanks to the entire and staff, both hospital and rehab and also to the administration.

Best. decision. Ever. Their team of professionals, from the dietician, to the nurse techs, the patient advocate to the front desk, were all wonderfully kind, patient, and helpful. They communicated clearly and consistently about what we could expect for moms care and recovery. She was treated with dignity and respect. Her nurses were cheerful and attentive. The most impressive part of her recovery was her PT/OT team. They were the best Ive ever seen. Sony and Shanon worked hard with mom every day. They were clear and specific in what she needed to do to aid her recovery. They pushed her, but never bullied or chastised. They not only did the prescribed program of treatment, but listened, really listened, to what her issues and concerns werethen taught her strategies to deal with those issues.
