    Sadly after 20+ years of coming here with my family and friends, I have to air grievances on our most recent trip that was a major disappointment and unfortunately will be forcing us to stay elsewhere going forward. The fact that the rates to even rent the units have skyrocketed is just disheartening, but also the quality of the property does not reflect the prices. The unit floors and patio were filthy, to where the soles of your feet would be black your entire stay. The sheets and towels were scarce and low quality. The hallways were not as clean and vacuumed, the upkeep is not where it used to be once just feel like no one cares and you get by with the bare minimum. Youre now nickel and dimed on practically everything for the beach - from beach chair rentals, wagons, umbrellas, etc. while I get it may be about business, its not about family anymore. Suprised you wouldnt even let another guest parking pass be issued when asked (theres another chunk of money you could have asked for just a thought.) The building was not even at capacity, which was a first for us to see. But now, not surprising. Its ridiculous and frustrating and frankly unnecessary because as someone who has been coming there my entire life, along with relatives you have come even longer before me, it never used to be like this. So after all these years, and coming to the place my beloved grandparents used to call as their second home, we will be going elsewhere from now on shame on you.

Hi Sara: Thank you for your review, unfortunately I cannot tell when your stay was but I would like to address each of your items. Yes, since COVID for the past two years our market in Siesta Key has changed, which has altered pricing, and has resulted in a change for House of the Sun to market-based pricing. Each unit is now individually priced, and we no longer offer the old pricing on our website. Linens and cleanliness are always priority I apologize of the shortfall. We are constantly doing quality control on the bed linens and bath towels, and our staff are required to remove thread baron sheets and towels. The same goes for inspections on the clean of the unit, staff are required to inspect each unit after the cleaning and our staff are responsible for the building hallways. If this was a recent stay, we are in the middle of a new roof replacement and we have had many of the units changing the sliding glass doors. From the roof replacement our unit balconies have needed to be cleaned more frequently from the debris and dust. That is another request that could have been made to the office for us to come up and take care of the issues as much as needed. Since the access to the roof is through the hallways and to the units there has been more debris then normal. Which has required staff to need to vacuum the hallway floors numerous times throughout the week, that I know for a fact has been happening. The statement made, "it feels like no one cares" I cannot agree with.As indicated in your review you have been staying here for numerous years, which you would know that anytime a unit is not satisfactory any issues can be reported and we will address immediately. Did this happen, with the linens and cleanliness of the floors? I feel you may not have stayed here for many years or reviewed the information on our website regarding the beach. We have never provided, wagons, or umbrellas, those have always been a item that would need to be rented. We provide beach chairs up to four for free. If you needed more than that, yes those would need to be rented. To make that easier our beach attendant will rent you umbrellas and chairs on the premises if needed. Not sure how to validate, the "nickel and dime" comment as you never would have received those items free of charge at any time in those 20 years of stays.In 2021 guest parking changed to $20/day, which has also been identified on the website as well. Unfortunately, with increase in business to Siesta Key after COVID, parking now is at a premium, and given the limited number of spaces, plus guest abuse of bringing more vehicles and people, forced us to change to paid parking. Each unit gets one free parking space, any additional parking is on a first come first service basis and will cost $20/day. Again not knowing when you stayed, I cannot vouch for capacity, but also can't validate how you formed your conclusion. Regardless of occupancy, it would not have stopped any of the changes above that you do not like, or were not use to. Unfortunately, not every guest will like the change, and when that happens, they will make that decision whether or not it works for them anymore. As you have indicated you will be doing.It is unfair to write a review speaking mainly about the changes that have been made, and were known about for many years, via publicly through our website, as well as, through our communications. Then play it off as if we don't care about the property and only care about money. That is a false statement, and reflects poorly on the reviewer's validity.Thanks again for your review, and I apologize for the deficiencies that you experienced with the linens and the cleanliness of the floors.
