Please do not send your child to Winthrop Charter Elementary School if they have experienced bullying at any other institution. My 8 year old was threatened by the AP to have the police come and arrest him and take him out in handcuffs. As a result of months of bullying by his classmates he began being aggressive as a way to defend himself, yet the school to refused accept responsibility for forcing him to stay in 4th grade with 10 and 11 year olds. In my first meeting with principal Terry Johnson, he expressed the Hillsborough County school would not allow the school to retain him since he passed the 3rd grade standardized test. The meeting was obviously about attacking my sons character while ignoring the fact that he has been in a hostile environment since August. After learning the AP Diane Stahl told him he would get into trouble at every school he attends, I pulled him out of that aggressive environment today. I reached out to my attorney. There has to be something in place against bullying from school administrators.

I am a current student and this school is ridiculous. The teachers are rude and most of them give infractions for the stupidest things. They give unhealthy lunch. I ate their lunch the first week I got there in 6th grade. Now I bring a lunch. Their food is burnt and rotten. Ms. Silvers doesn't deal with bullying when reported. I was once talked down to by a person and stood up for myself, I was the one who got in trouble for standing up for myself. This school is bad and they give too much work for students to do. I am stressed now because I am scared I won't pass even though I have mostly good grades. My peers in 8th grade have so much potiential but they are so overwhelmed by the work they give they just give up. Don't send your child here. They say they will take care of your child, but they wont. I know from experience.
