    I sent a relative to this business to pick up a starter to install on their vehicle. The part had far more mileage on it than I was told by the counter person Lorena over the phone. I confirmed that by running the VIN number that accompanied it. The part did not function properly, clicking several times before actually starting the car. Upon returning the part for a refund, which on the day of purchase was said to be okay if there was a problem, minus a 3% restocking fee, a counter person by the name of Luis (the same person that cashed my relative out on pickup) stated he could not identify the starter as their part and began to come up with petty excuses about scratches on an obviously well used part that was in the same condition upon return that it was received in. Normally used parts are marked with a bright and or easily seen mark from a grease pencil, but this part was marked in a manner that was hard to see, which I noticed upon viewing the part before install. I took a picture of both parts side by side because it concerned me. I didn't think it would be a problem because the part on the car was a replacement and not the original AC Delco like the part they provided, and therefore could not be mixed up. The picture was showed to Luis who continued to claim he could not be sure it was their part because of some number that he wasn't sure of on the sticker, instead of what was written on the part by them, and offered a replacement, or store credit, which was declined in favor of a new part. There are a number of reputable auto salvagers in the Tampa area, Davidson's and Gagel's are two that we have dealt with without a problem. I would recommend them to anyone. Partmax has complaints on BBB, if I had seen them before hand, I would not have sent my relative to do business with them. I would advise anyone to give serious thought to the risks of dealing with this company, and advise them to deal with someone with a solid reputation of doing good haggle free business. I would have more respect for them if they had just come out and said, "We don't want to give you your money back", because that's the only legitimate conclusion I can draw from their actions. The old starter was purchased from Advance and is on the left.
