I grinded a portion of my tooth right out of my mouth and of course it is Friday at 530pm. My normal Dentist office is closed on weekends. Can I make it a whole weekend without the back portion of my tooth? I chose not to do so which means I had to find a Dentist that was open Saturday and available to fit me in. Hello VIP. I go in. I get the filling. It is massive as quite a bit of my tooth is in my hand. I am told I have bruxism which is Doctor speak for you grind your teeth. I go to floss with a dental pick and there is a very odd sensitivity that I never had before. It is in the same area as the filling. I floss for a week hoping this odd sensitivity that I never had before will go away. It does not. I request a return visit to have this properly corrected at VIP. I go in and am told that there is nothing wrong. Hmm. The Dentist goes further and tells me to use old school 1987 dental floss and not the dental picks that approximately 98% of the world including myself uses to eliminate the odd sensation. Now, I am thinking does it sound right to have to change my method of flossing that I have been using since I can remember conscientiously flossing on a routine basis (approx. 18 centuries) I have used the dental picks (Close Up Precision). The Dentist then states he recommends as the old school wire floss is thinner. This seems like somewhat of an admission without an admission of error. Fast forward approx. 5-6 months while having the same issue the entire time. VIP is blowing me up as it is time for a cleaning and if I come to them that means more money from me. I am receiving text messages galore and was confused thinking it was from my routine Dentist. I confirm an appointment and eventually find out it is with VIP. Okay. I would love for someone to look at this tooth and tell me why my floss that I have been using my entire adult life is no longer sufficient so I keep the appointment. I come in and they want to charge me. I tell them there is no way I am paying for what I have been asking them to fix for months. The Office Manager comes out and says they will be flexible and charge only a consulting fee (again they are charging to consult on their error). The reason given for charging the consulting fee is I will be visiting with a different Dentist for review. I agree and pay. The new/different Dentist confirms what I have been saying all along about there being an issue with the filling. Prior to that "consultation", one of the dental techs mentions that the Dentist that initially did the work was no longer with VIP. The reason I was given for the consultation charge was I would be visiting with a different Dentist. If the Dentist who made the error was no longer with the company, it stands to acknowledge that I would have been meeting with a different Dentist regardless of fee. I felt I was being purposely misled to ensure an additional dollar was made for an error VIP admitted to committing. VIP offered to charge me to properly fill their initial error and complete some other work. I openly communicated that I felt as though I was provided false information to pay the consulting fee and now am being requested to pay further for their error. Understand, I have already paid for this filling. It was not properly completed. The Office Manager stated they would discuss with the Owners and follow back up with me. That was approx. 3 weeks ago. I just had a visit with my normal routine Dentist and shared this essay with them verbally. They quickly identified the problem and provided a simple solution. My regular Dentist (NOT VIP) is fixing at no cost to me. I still have not heard back from VIP. I try to minimize reviews unless positive as they are almost always negative. I waited this entire time to see if I would at least receive that phone call for VIP to say they could not do anything. I felt strongly to share this experience and explain why I would happily recommend my routine Dentist and never refer VIP. If it is an emergency, wait until Monday and see who you know.
