image My recent engagement with Damage Control services left me disappointed and puzzled. Despite expecting prompt and effective solutions for an emergency water/mold issue, I found their approach lacking.
Technicians left ventilators running for days to dry the ceiling, while the leak persisted, resulting in unnecessary energy consumption and inefficiency. As a first-time customer seeking urgent assistance, I anticipated thorough and professional service, but unfortunately, this was not delivered.
The lack of transparency and ineffective resolution of the problem make it challenging for me to recommend Damage Control services. Overall, I am deeply dissatisfied with my experience.

image They get one star because the guys that come out and monitor are very professional and easy to work with. HOWEVER, be wary of using this company!! We had water damage from an unknown source, we had Damage Control come out before filing the insurance claim. They were very careful not to do any work that may not be covered, which I did appreciate, but not only did 1) they cause the damage to become WORSE (details to follow), but 2) they drove up the prices of their services to max out the amount allowed by our insurance company after I was personally told by Manuel that "we won't get near the cap", and then 3) Manuel ghosted me when trying to get them to come back out and finish the job.
1) Manuel placed a dehumidifier pointed at the affected area and ran the drainage line into our sink. The second restoration company that we had come back out after Damage control came and took their equipment and left was able to walk in and tell immediately where the water was coming from, which was where the sink pipe meets the rest of the house piping in the wall. By putting the tube in the sink, they were just routing all the water straight to the problem site. Now the damage has been spread from 10 LF of cabinets to the entire kitchen.
2) I asked repeatedly what the cost was to have the equipment set up because the wall was not drying up and it was obviously not effectively drying the area (now we know why the wall wouldn't dry). I was reassured over and over that they wouldn't come anywhere near our $3800 emergency fund cap. In the end, they left two pieces of equipment here for 18 days with a few visits to check the equipment. Each visit they noted the wall still wet but nothing was ever done to investigate why or remove the equipment. They even UNPLUGGED the dehumidifier for the final week but left the equipment so they could still charge me the daily use fee without telling me that was the case. The final bill was $4153.00. Why would they unplug equipment and leave it and still charge me??
3) A few days after they came and picked up their equipment and left (with no intention on actually fixing anything, removing cabinets, etc....basically as soon as they got the insurance to agree to pay them), I called asking if I could have them come back out and remove cabinets and finish the job. I was told to text Manuel, the lead we had been working with. I texted and he responded that he'd get someone out to do mold testing and set everything up and I didn't hear back. Next, my husband texted him asking for followup and received no response. I finally texted again about a week later asking for the final cost so we could see how much money was left for the emergency portion of our funds and have someone come finish the job and again, no response. It wasn't until after we hired another company that we found out Damage control purposely drove up costs to deplete our funds.
