My dog contracted fleas from the hospital. I recently had a deeply troubling experience with Downtown Pet Hospital in Orlando, FL, that has compelled me to share this review. My intent was simple: to have my Cavalier female dog spayed in a safe and caring environment. To this end, I made an appointment well in advance and even paid a deposit a month before the scheduled surgery, believing it to be part of the standard procedure. The series of disappointments began unexpectedly on the day of the surgery. Despite not having signed any agreement or being informed about a non-refundable deposit policy, I was told that my deposit would not be refunded. This was particularly shocking because no services were rendered for that deposit, and I believe such a policy should only be enforced if customers are clearly made aware of it through a signed agreement. Furthermore, my dog's visit for pre-surgery blood work resulted in an unexpected and distressing issue: she contracted fleas from the hospital. Even more concerning was the staff's approach to this problem; they pointed out the fleas as though it was a pre-existing condition and then promptly suggested I purchase flea medication from them. This situation not only raises questions about the cleanliness of the facility but also suggests a prioritization of profit over genuine animal care. The handling of both the non-refundable deposit and the flea issue has led me to question the ethics and motivations of Downtown Pet Hospital. It seems their focus is more on financial gain rather than providing compassionate and professional veterinary care. I am sharing my experience to caution other pet owners who are seeking trustworthy and empathetic care for their pets. It's crucial for veterinary practices to operate with transparency, professionalism, and a genuine concern for the well-being of animals. Unfortunately, my experience at Downtown Pet Hospital was far from this standard. I hope this review encourages potential clients to carefully consider their options and prompts the hospital to reassess their policies and practices.

The staff at Downtown Pet Hospital are some of the most compassionate, thorough, and knowledgeable people in the industry. They are beyond patient and I never feel rushed when I have questions or concerns. The staff treats my boy like he is their own, and hes very comfortable with every one of them. They go above and beyond to make a scary experience as positive as possible for my sweet Diesel. We see Dr. Minton and have nothing but praise for her. She was excellent giving me updates during my dogs dental cleaning and the staff texted me pictures of him to ease my mind! I know he will always be in great hands here. Thank you DPH!

My family and I havent had the best luck finding a good vet who really cared for our Furbaby Elsa. But meeting Melissa and having her recommend this place has changed our lives forever! The whole staff was spectacular. From making us comfortable to the communication. We couldnt ask for a better place to take our baby.

Thank you for sharing your concerns regarding your recent experience at Downtown Pet Hospital. Regarding the surgery deposit, it's a measure we've implemented to ensure that our clients are committed to their surgical appointments, minimizing no-shows and last minute cancellations, and allowing us to serve all of our patients effectively. We regret any miscommunication that may have led to dissatisfaction. You were provided with an estimate that explained in writing our deposit policy and requirements for cancellation for refund. It is important to us that our clients fully understand our terms and conditions, and we apologize if this wasn't effectively communicated to you. We will review our processes to ensure clarity and transparency moving forward. Regarding your flea concerns, we strive to maintain excellent cleanliness of our hospital, even while serving dogs and cats that come in and out of our building and yard daily. Spring is also peak time for fleas to hatch outside when the weather becomes consistently warm. The health and safety of all animals in our care are paramount, and I can assure you that we take cleanliness and hygiene very seriously.
