There are very few Universities that I am aware of, that are as committed to providing an exemplary education to students who, but for their economic status, would not receive such an education. As I understand it, IUL's mission is to change the dynamics of the educational playing field by reaching out to under privileged young men and women, who believe that they live in a world that has forgotten about them. IUL gives these young education-seekers the opportunity to receive a top notch undergraduate and/or graduate level education. Graduates are then positioned and poised to pursue careers that they had only dreamed might be available to them. I am very proud to be a professor at a school that puts their students ahead of their endowment. A school that understands their responsibility is not to make money, but to educate. A school that puts its money where its mouth is, by using the tools available to teach everyone and anyone, from any country. I shudder to think what most ivory tower residents likely think about the value of an education at IUL. Why? Because they come from schools that provide but a limited examination of the real world around us. As such teachers and leaders at these colleges possess but a limited understanding of the realities of life on our planet, having been educated themselves at these schools. Their reach only goes as far as the valedictorians of local high schools, while they intentionally exclude every other student, with the notable exception of other students who are legacies or who comes from wealthy families that are willing to pay much more than the cost of tuition to have their children educated at so-called prestigious institutions. However, we cannot fault the ivory tower residents who operate these money-making-machine Universities, as this is all they know. They've been brainwashed into believing their way is the right way and they're role is to perpetuate the same old message - that they are better than others and that as such they are deserving of more of the planet's resources than others. And so they take up the same cause as their teachers and their teachers teachers before them by convincing each generation of their natural and god-given right to a larger share of the pie than others, and so goes this simple message forever. Having never experienced anything but a direct path to comfort, their eyes are unequipped to focus on anything but their needs and wants. Those needs and wants supersede those of everyone else. Why? Because their belief system is deeply ingrained. They deserve more because their fathers' or their grandfathers' have worked hard to attain Estates who's rightful owner is their progeny. Why? Just because. These same people will forever remain clueless, and happily live across imaginary boundaries, drawn by men of limited knowledge many years ago. Lines that will never change. Why? Just because. Surprisingly most do not know that the Earth, in its original design and today, contains no such boundary lines on its surface. Believing that these lines are man made creations would not permit us to want and take what is not ours. Why? Just because. Fortunately IUL does not subscribe to the "just because" theory. The happenstance of being the progeny of wealth occurs by happenstance and coincidence is not a reasonable basis for a better education or a better life.
