Oh let me count the ways in which this company has made my life miserable over the last six months. Let me start out with the bare facts: Initial payment of 11k was paid by our insurence on October 24th 2023. Today is 3/26/24 and we just passed our inspection with the county and I am finally done with these people and I am so glad. This was an insurence claim with water damage on drywall, cabinets and the floor. Most of the demo was done in october by a mold remediation company and it was JANUARY before the Contractor Luis ordered the demo for the rest of the floor. The floor had PVC tiles that needed to come up to place ceremic tiles and Luis insisted that what I knew to be pvc tile was in fact my subfloor. He carried on insisting this until I pulled it up with my bare hands and broke it in front of him. Luis didn't do any of the actual work and he wasn't on site when the work was done, the self leveling instead of being done as one continuous pour was done in two batches as they didn't want to move the appliances correctly, he said they "couldn't" but when I laid the tile, and yes friends I had to lay my own tile because he didn't offer laminate countertop so what the insurence paid for the floor was realocated to quartz countertop, which I didn't ask for and didn't get to choose any variation of, there was only a single option, I was able to move all the appliances to the spaces avaliable to lay tile. The cabinets themselves I was presented with white shaker cabinets or grey shaker cabinets. I had the option of black at a greater price. When installin g the cabinets they removed my custom cut valance and only replaced it with a filler board under duress as they said the insurence company demanded money back (the insurence states the estimate overcharged) They painted and did drywall before the electrical work was finished and then said it was not in their scope of work to redo it after the electrician was done. I did get them to patch the two very tiny holes the electrician left but they painted a three foot area around them WHITE so I had to go buy aa quart of paint to correct all the areas that were left messsed up from other areas of construction (they painted when the room was bare drywall so flooring, cabinet instalation and finishing the electrical all left their mark) As of this moment right now My water lines to the ice maker were not run behind the cabinets during instalation and I have to hire a plumber to complete that because Luis said "it isn't within his scope of work" As far as the electrical work is concerned we hired an electrician completely seperate from construmax because theirs showed up in november, waited three weeks and then proclaimed he wasn't doing the job, no reason was given as to why but Luis didn't know any other electricians so I had to find one myself. Luis argued at the very beginning of the project that I not do the electrical work because he didn't want to pull permits. He argued that permits were not required for all the other work that needed to be done, the county disagreed and he said "if you ask the county they are always going to say you need a permit." Overall, when it was finally finished my kitchen is functional but I would not recomend these people and SPECIFICALLY LUIS is awful to work with. As an aside there is also no electronic way to pay and you must call in with a card number. CALL THE FRONT DESK do not give your card number to the contractor. Luis wrote my card information down and carried it with him over the weekend on my garage claim (which they did well, that's why I used them for the kitchen)
