Hilton Garden Inn Tampa Northwest/Oldsmar

Broken: both reading lights, the in-rom Keurig ( apparently new) and the replacement they brought ( also 'new'), the digital key didn't work despite resetting app (not the hotel's fault -that's on Hilton- but not handled as well as It could have been.) Baby in diapers in hot tub (!). Good housekeeping staff, inexperienced, not terribly professional day desk staff not well-trained in guest-facing communication or problem-solving. The management not very accessible- emailed AGM and heard back in email (no call) and lots of explanations/excuses- no call, no apologies. As if this level of service for over 200.00/ night is somehow acceptable. In light of difficulty finding trained staff, Hilton just isn't what it used to be. For a motel 6, this would be what you'd expect.

This hotel has older rooms, which normally isn't a problem. But the cards used to get into the rooms are easily demagnetized by things like a wallet full of credit cards or a smart phone. When I checked in, I got a card and put it in my pocket. I went to get my luggage from the car and bring it up to my room. When I got to my room 5 minutes later, the door would not open because the card had been demagnetized by my phone. I went back downstairs for them to re-magnetize it with their card writer and the woman at the front desk was really shockingly rude. She did remagnetize my card, though. I went back up to get in my room and I changed to go to the gym. I went down to the gym (which also requires a key card) surprisingly my card was again not working. I went to the front desk for the third time in a 30 minute period and the woman again was very rude - but this time she was talking about me to her coworker as I walked away to go to the gym. I cannot recommend this place.
