I am writing this review for my 80 year old mother, Hughes installed a new HVAC unit about 2 years ago, and she has had multiple issues to date, the most recent problem with her air not working was a bad condenser fan motor, the technician came out diagnosed the problem, then told her he would return the next day to repair. Upon his return he did in fact replace the fan motor and get the unit back running. Hughes charged her a 200.00 shipping fee for a warranty part? I have never heard of a company charging shipping for a warranty part, and my wife is in a business that orders warranty parts for pools, pumps, heaters, etc. every day, I also find it hard to believe this basic fan motor was not available local in Ocala. Also the technician was actually on site both days for only maybe 1.5 hours @ 99.95 per hour, but charged her 3 hours 299.85 for labor. I went over to her house and looked at the outside unit after the tech had left per her request and found her AC panel was left open, and was disappointed that, if he replaced the fan motor why there was bunch of leaves in the bottom of the unit, while he was replacing the fan motor he could have easily cleaned the bottom of the unit out, but I guess costumer service isn't Hughes main goal. I will be contacting Rudd today myself to inquire about her warranty as well, she has the original install invoice "not dated" and every copy of every routine maintenance or trouble call, but never received a copy of her warranty with Rudd, not sure if Hughes is warranting this unit in house, but I will find out today. My opinion of Hughes Heating & Air looking over the paper work, I would never use them or recommend them to anyone. Services: HVAC system repair, HVAC system maintenance, A/C system maintenance, Heating system repair, A/C system repair, HVAC duct & vent repair, Heating system installation, Install thermostat, HVAC duct & vent installation, Thermostat repair, Repair HVAC, Install AC, Thermostat installation

We had a technician come out to our home in December of last year to fix a drainage problem with our HVAC system that was causing our A/C to stop working. The technician found a double P-trap system and according to the invoice, removed the second p-trap under the crawl space of our home and that it was draining properly. Our A/C system began working properly and has had no issues since. Fast-forward to a few weeks ago when we were attempting to get our vapor barrier installed, and were told that theres so much moisture that theyre unable to install it until the leak is fixed, and they also mentioned that it looks like someone cut off the PVC at the end of the HVAC drainage pipe and it was just draining under our home, and had caused excessive fungal growth that needed to be treated. We had 2 plumbers come out and confirm that our water piping is free of leaks, and that the only present issue is the HVAC leak. A new HVAC technician from a separate company has come out and informed us that there is a clear cut where the PVC pipe used to be connected to the drain pipe outside, and that it appears that the last contractor allowed under our home simply cut off the PVC where the p-trap ended, and never bothered to form a connection so that the moisture could be drained to the outside of our crawlspace and allowed to evaporate. This means that all water draining from our HVAC system for the past four months has been accumulating moisture in our crawl space and is the culprit for our current fungal and moisture issues. This has cost us extra money in fungal treatment, as well as in having plumbers come out to assess what we thought may be a plumbing issue, in addition to the original repair fee from Hughes. I believe this may not be a reflection on the company itself, but the technician contracted by the company to perform the repair. We believe that because we were new homeowners who were nervous about going under our crawl space, that the technician knew we may not catch the terrible job that he did. The technician also left the pipe hanging out of the crawl space to make it look like the pipe was draining properly. This was completely unethical, and we will never be using this company again. If you or your Mother was upset all you had to do was call the office and we would have gladly gone over any issues with you. Warranty fees is a thing that is done by all vendors now.... Try to get anything from Carrier or Goodman or York without paying a warranty fee and I can promise you that it's not going to happen. We cannot eat a warranty shipping and handling fee. And the motor is not a standard single speed motor. It is an ECM motor that out of warranty would cost 1200-1500 to change out. Power surges unfortunately take out ECM motors at a pretty common rate here in Florida with all the lightning strikes. Then with the hours our tech had to go into Ocala and pick up the warranty motor, fill out warranty paperwork and return and then install the motor. He spent an hour on the job yesterday 45 minutes onsite today and then the rest of the time was billed for going and getting the motor. Once again we cannot eat that time to go and get the motor. Now if it was a standard ,single speed motor we stock those in our vans. But ECM motors are definitely not a stock item. We give a 1year warranty that covers our labor after an install. That is besides the factory10 year warranty that the system has . But the factory warranty covers parts only and not labor. If you would like to go over anything please call the Office and we can go over anything. Thank you.

Mrs. Clayton. I'm very sorry to read about this. We at the Office were never informed about this situation until I myself read this. I take great pride in the work done as we received HVAC contractor of the year award for 2 yrs in a row with Home Advisor and Angi. I don't know what happened in your case but if I would have been let know about it I personally would have made sure everything was done correctly. I hope you give us another chance in the future to earn your trust. Thank You.
