Hello Robin, we understand that Jackson is having an episode of an upset stomach due to the flea and tick medication your husband was provided. When you called our office on Friday to express your concerns, we tried to explain why Jackson may be experiencing these symptoms several times but our staff were continuously shut down when they tried to explain.When your husband called asking for your flea and tick prevention, we told him he could come on down. Before we sold these meds to your husband we confirmed with him on whether or not the medication was okay. He said they were fine so we allowed him to leave with them.We do have record of Jackson getting a different flea, tick, and heartworm medication but the last time we sold you any prevention was in 2022 and we have not sold you any more since then. Since we don’t have record of the prevention you were purchasing at a different location, we could not be 100% sure which prevention Jackson has been receiving for the last year. So we trusted that your husband knew which medications to purchase.We also want to note that although Simparica Trio is more expensive than the med you were receiving prior, that is not why we sold it to you. Medications get more expensive to account for inflation and new innovations.As we tried to explain on Friday, pets may experience an upset stomach for 24-48 hours after ingesting ANY flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. Upset stomach is the #1 reported symptom for any flea and tick prevention. There are several factors as to why your pet may be experiencing symptoms such as, giving the prevention on an empty stomach, not giving it every single month on the scheduled date, or the grade of susceptibility to the side effects of the medication.Each flea and tick prevention has different ingredients and may react differentliy with your pets GI tract. However, Trifexis is much much harder on the GI tract than Simparica Trio according to research and studies/reports of patients. But as stated before, each flea, tick, and heartworm prevention has different side effects according to your pets tolerance to the prevention. Jackson received a heartworm test the last time he visited us for a check up, and on Thursday we sold you your flea, tick and heartworm prevention within the regulated time frame between when a heartworm test is given and when a clinic can sell you prevention.Further, if your pet is given the same medication for multiple years, they may start growing resistance to the medication rendering it useless.We apologize if you felt our staff was being rude. We think it’s important to note that our staff was on the phone with you for some time while you yelled at them and insulted them multiple times over. We care deeply about our patients and want nothing but the best for them, but even the most composed person cannot be spoken to in that manner to be insulted over and over and remain composed.
