When my mom unexpectedly passed away last November, my dad was left by himself in their home of 38 years. Being married for over 65 years, they were independent as a couple. It became apparent that if dad wanted to stay in his home, we would need to find him care. Having dementia, this was no easy task.
I researched many companies, mostly larger ones, and found some of things I uncovered unsettling. I felt like just another
number. That's when I found Ashford Home Care! The owner, Durrand Ashford, is a caring and understanding person. He took the time to put our minds at ease and has made dad feel so comfortable providing the necessary care to allow him to stay in his home. His caregiver, Shiara, is simply amazing. She is personal and professional on all levels. Between Durrand, Misty, the office schedular, and Shiara. they will work out any detail necessary to accommodate your needs. I fully trust Durrand and his company to take care of my dad. Communication is open, honest and upfront - no hidden concerns or surprises. Ashford Home Care has been the best place for us to find care for Mom. They have worked with us in scheduling and coordinating care and finding the right balance for our family. They have been a pleasure to work with as we deal with an aging loved one. I would suggest them as the FIRST place to start when you begin this journey. If I could give this place a MILLION stars I would in my 11 year career, I have NEVER worked for a company like ASHFORD HOME CARE! This company amazes me every single day. Not only do they care about their clients, they also care about their employees!!! They are supportive, great communication, honest, caring, appreciative and so much more! They will always have your back hands down the BEST company to work for in Florida. Ashford Home Care is a family and veteran owned company where you are not just another number or an employee but are treated as family. Durrand & his wife Paula, the owners, take pride in helping others and built Ashford Care from the ground up. They have worked every position on their team and are there to support you through any questions and concerns you may have. They are truly both excellent mentors and helped me personally launch my professional career to the next level. Whether you are in the office or in the field the same motto is applied work life balance. You know you have a team ready to assist and support, so you dont miss the things that are truly important in your life.
I was blessed to have worked as part of the team for about two years. Everyday, I was able to love what I did as the Operations & Client Care Manager. I was able to feel like I was making a difference. Whether it was assisting a veteran with a good match as their caregiver, someone who could not only come in and do their duties, but someone who could pair well with that particular client and be the reason why they were smiling for the day. On the other hand, working with the caregivers, helping them reach their next professional level by coaching & mentoring them to be the best version of themselves and have full administrative support anytime they needed was also a joy to see them succeed and reach new professional levels on the team.
With Ashford Care, caregivers are never forced to take a case, they are carefully selected by the office management and then offered to review the case to confirm whether or not they would like to accept it, it is solely the caregivers choice to accept or decline the cases offered. Cases are usually within a 15 mile radius from the caregivers location letting them maximize their schedule and/or still be able to perform home duties such as pick up from children's school, doctor appointments and such. Ashford Care believes in positive reinforcement and is always sending out gift cards for a job well done, to anyone on the team who goes the extra mile! Personal touches such as birthday cards, supportive text and check in's really show that you are a valued member of the team. What it truly boils down too, is veterans or staff, Durrand and Paula are always willing to go that extra mile to make a difference in people's lives and as part of the team they will encourage you to do the same!
