Our recent visit to the Deerfield Farm for their annual cane grinding and syrup making was truly "a little slice of heaven". In addition to being a lovely family that shares their property and traditions with the general public they also make the BEST cane syrup we have ever enjoyed! They even go so far as to bake fresh biscuits and cook sausage to serve with the syrup as well!! Awesome!

The Cane Grind festival was a lot of fun for the entire family. There were *free* horse rides, hay bales for kids (and adults) to play on, a large checkerboard, and food. Donations were accepted. There was a cane grinding demonstration that dated back to the late 1800s. The original cane kettle is on display inside the farm house, which was brought to FL from Tennessee on the back of a Model T. Amazing history and southern hospitality. The 1st weekend of December is the only time to enjoy the Cane Grind Festival, so plan ahead!
