Maggie's Retirement Home  - 7930 SW 11 St Miami FL 33144PLEASE READ! Don't put your parents/family members in this Nursing care facility. Today June 9th around 5:10 PM driving home we see an elderly man around the age of 70/80 walking almost getting to 8 ST. He was walking and almost falling. My husband and I immediately stopped to offer assistance. He was disoriented and could barely walk on his own. After trying to find out where he was going/coming from he proceeded to say that he lived around the corner in a home. During that time another lady stopped that lives in the neighborhood and was able to identify where the home was. I proceeded to follow her to the home while my husband cared for the gentleman where we found him since we called the cops. Upon arrival at the home, not only was the front door unlocked but the side gate was also COMPLETELY open. The first thing I did I went through the side and saw an elderly gentleman sitting by himself in a wheelchair. I proceeded to ask him if anybody was attending him and his answer was "No one is here". I then went to the front door and walked right in realizing it was unlocked. I saw one of the care takers in the kitchen and I asked her if she had a patient by the name of "DELFÍN". She replied yes and I immediately asked her if she knew where he was and her reply was "she has no idea that he was somewhere around." I then told her where we found him (VERY UPSET) and told he that the side gate was completely open and it was very in-responsible. I then called my husband and told him to bring him to the nursing home that he was a patient there. While on the phone she proceeded to get another lady involved. After hanging up the phone she then told me that today he had been a little bit crazy and that she has just taken the garbage out that's why the side gate was open. To fast forward, my husband brought him and they took him back in. We completely understand that anyone can make a mistake and leave a door open after a long day dealing with elderly but it was obvious that he was gone for some time. If we wouldn't of found him or help who knows where he would've been by now. Please be very cautious where you choose to leave your family members when in need of care. We are currently going through this with my father in law and it isn't easy. Sad part is His family probably won't know anything about this. The cops were involved prior to us knowing where he was residing. We have reported this to the department of AHCA. We will also make sure to leave a review in every page. We now fear for him and anyone else under their care.
