My sister is a patient with bipolar disorder and has been mistreated by nurses. Two days ago one of them hit her and threatened to put her in jail. They even denied her water. How can these things happen if they are supposed to be there to help? Are you here to help? They are not trained for this type of patient, it is unfortunate that this type of thing happens and even worse than this.

Honestly I HAVE AND NEVER WILL like this hospital and not just this department even the er and even the pediatric side of this hospital and just the whole chain of "Jackson Hospital" from doctors to security guards I have never met anyone who works here who has been nice it's like you step in and receive automatic attitude the only reason I even still deal with this hospital is cause when ever my brother is bakeracted they send him here if not I could be dying and this could be the last hospital open and I would rather just die the doctors and nurses here at least the last time I let myself be convinced to go here made me feel so uncomfortable I just ended up walking out...anyways today I have tried calling the outpatient center FIVE (5) TIMES and not any of those 5 times did someone answer couldn't even leave a message and I called because yesterday when I had went there a nurse I believe her name was Natalie or Natalia told me she would be able to have my brothers stuff transferred to the opalacka site today and I was only trying to follow up and see if it got done cause the nurses in opa lacka had told my brother that they didn't hear of that and that he (who is currently in there) would have to call and find out instead of them just trying to help him out he's obviously in there and doesn't have a cellphone to use and call and even if he had they obviously don't answer and they're just so rude I can continue to type on this experience alone a list of how rude these people are from both sides but I think there's a character limit

I started off by going to this facility in a serious mental health crisis, and a previous summer/fall of constant Baker Act admissions. I then began with their outpatient services and a new and correct diagnosis and new medication. That is working and that is very good. My comment here is not about the inpatient hospital, which on the whole was mostly good and outstanding with some of the staff (Dr. Martinez and staff great; but yes some lower staff and techs are horrible but that just goes with inpatient psych facilities everywhere). But I began outpatient with the promise of a truly holistic plan for me involving therapy, and coordination with my other providers and special referrals. This really s not what is happening and now that I'm up and running after 3 visits I'm reluctant to cut the ties to my previous behavioral health facility. I don't trust the process. But for a number of reasons I will have to stay with Jackson Behavioral Health. I am left struggling to coordinate a lot of the extra care myself. I don't get the feedback and involvement that I expected. That is really difficult when a person is coming out of a major mental health emergency and overall bad multi-month period. The hospital is also in a strange place and I'm in a new large city. Miami is a new, busy, and complicated place for me. Very. So really I'm just getting medicine and avoiding relapse and crisis., There is not the special plan that I was enticed with and hoped for. I'm just settling in to being another routine patient at MAT. Everyone is courteous and professional and that is not the problem. But I was sold a situation that I am not getting and I will have to see what I want to do but I'm a bit disappointed. Ive had multiple psychiatrists over decades. I have a lifelong mental health condition and related challenges. I hope I get all the help I need but so far that has not happened. When I inquired about some things there was an indifference from my psychiatry people and nothing was done. I'll have to see how it goes but improvements are needed. Kevin Kulback - patient
