VITAS Healthcare Inpatient Hospice Unit

If I could give 0 stars I would. The people who coordinate transportation here are irresponsible. Im still furious at the fact that the last day my mother was conscious, they didnt know about my mothers whereabouts when she was supposed to be transported to the inpatient unit.

We have a very deep pain in our hearts. But we are very grateful for the care my grandfather received from the nurses and all the staff in general. They gave us so much spiritual supportwe thank God for choosing this place. On behalf of his daughter and the entire family we ask God to bless them for the noble task they carry out with so much love and respect.

Our beloved father passed away from cancer on May 3rd. For one week he was in the Vitas (Kendall/Miami) facility. At first the idea of hospice was foreign and scary to the family. The team took a lot of their time to help us settle in and we quickly realized this was a blessing for our dad to be in. Here's what I have to say: 1) This is their newest facility. It was always clean and felt inviting. The convenience of having large private rooms, guest showers and laundry proved priceless during this difficult time for our family. I stayed with my dad the entire week he was there (I never left and slept there every night also). So having these amenities was very convenient and gave me one less thing to worry about. 2) The staff - including those who kept the facility clean, the bathrooms clean, the nurses, managers ...EVERYONE - were incredible. They have such a difficult environment to be around and you have ot have a special soul to be able to deal with people in their final moments on a daily basis. 3) Dr. Towey - I simply don't have enough words to truly do her justice. Am incredibly kind and knowledgeable woman. She answered all of our questions and always kept us one step ahead to the best of her ability. It was a blessing from God that we were able to get our father in this facility so he can be comfortable and surrounded by family in his final moments.
