Official Art Deco Walking Tour

I absolutely loved this walking tour, one of the best I've ever done. Booked through their official website since it's a nonprofit that has supported the preservation of the area for years - no brainer! Our guide was Damian, and like the other tour guides is a local volunteer passionate about the community, the architecture, the history, and the preservation of the character of South Beach (and Miami Beach). I'm an Art Deco fan already but he spent lots of time describing the features of buildings and the neighborhood, how it developed, and how people are actively trying to preserve it. Plus he spent every spare moment telling us facts about the history of the area, including Miami and Florida in general, interest stories from the neighbordhood, fun facts, local recommendations, interplay between architecture and social movements and local development, etc. It was a great introduction not just to the iconic buildings in South Beach, but the whole neighborhood. I can't recommend this tour highly enough.

The walking tour was a major blast of information, I couldn't take it all in because I'd arrived the evening before and I was dealing with a proper jetlag. It really was fascinating tour. I was excepting more walking but, we got to go inside to very nice hotels and the tour guide was excellent! I suggest you take this one, it's only 35 dollars and it all goes for the art deco maintenance and raising awareness, the tips are the only payment the guides get. And the guides do this for the love of their neighbourhood and this area and it really shines through when they speak about the area. You could do this on your own but... for the sake of keeping this area as lovely as it is and to really hear the stories, I'd advice you to take this tour. Wholeheartedly.

Very interesting and informative tour, showing the history of Miami Beach as well as offering us a lot of details regarding the Art Deco style, a style that was used throughout world. Our guide Janinha was very knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend this tour if you are in Miami Beach.

Very much enjoyed the tour and the humorous guide. Though Im someone who knows a bit about architecture I still learned some things, most of which I think were true.
