Rick at Barton Gonzalez and Myers has been handling all of my personal and business tax and accounting needs for around 15 yrs. Rick himself, along with his partners, and office staff are very knowledgeable, professional, and honest. I would highly recommend Barton Gonzalez Myers to anyone looking for a CPA.

Where do I begin This firm was my fathers CPA for several years. He passed away in July 2022 and my brother and I stepped in to run and close down/sell his company. In seven months, we paid around $10,000 in CPA fees. The last bill was around $4000 of which I wondered about as I was the one who completed all the quarterly reports. I even tallied and gave Rick the CPA the income numbers for all W2, 1099 records. All he did was literally fill in the blanks. Other than that, he spent maybe a few hours of phone correspondence with our attorney relevant to a buy sell agreement we were putting together. Not a major workload for $4000 but attempting to take the highroad, I paid the bill. What really disappointed me, however, was his total lack of professionalism when I contacted him about the urgent need to obtain amortization records of several loans a month later. Some were relevant to legal foreclosure issues I could not wait on. Getting this information to me would probably have taken a total of thirty minutes tops. His response via email surprised me: Im too busy. Do not contact me until May 1! which was six weeks away. Reviewing the books over several years, my fathers company had probably paid this firm over $100,000 in CPA services. The fact we were winding the business down due to a death really did not matter to this firm apparently. I even offered as a compromise to wait until a few days after the tax deadline. This, however, was not good enough. Ricks response was to terminate our relationship. In hindsight, it was probably for the best given the other negative comments I have recently read about this business online. When I relayed what had transpired to my other CPA (I also own two other businesses) and our attorney, they were shocked and suggested I file a complaint with the DPBR. Doing that next. Word to the wise: look for a better more professional CPA firm.

Just got off the phone with them. They did not want to talk to me, actually he acted like it physically hurt him. Asked him about previous taxes with audit he was very you have to pay this and that is it, when I spoke with a tax attorney who told me exactly what to ask and when to discontinue a conversation with a cpa because they are not willing to help. I am not saying our game plan will work but trying to help get things done is way better then just saying sounds like you already got it worked out. Yeah, I got it except the part that I was trying to hire them for filing back taxes. They seem to only want to do the stuff that is easy, that you can do for free online. I hope it was just a bad morning and they take really good care of everyone who goes there, best of luck.
