Hi, Mona—I’m the owner of OurKeyWest Concierge. I’ve lived in Key West for nearly fifty years, and your negative review provides an opportunity to explain how our business works. First, it’s important to know we have served more than 15,000 guests over the past 8 years and the vast majority are super happy with our free concierge service, many many guests are regular repeat clients who have become our friends over the years, some of our guests have become permanent residents!Your review is confusing, as we do not charge any fees for booking our guests’ activities, and the activity prices are not inflated. Because we have so many loyal guests every year, we are able to bring a lot of added business to our portfolio of most reputable vendors on the island, and so the vendors pay us a small fee to send them the business. After all, we are a business, and we must pay our wonderful staff of local concierges, and we earn that revenue from our vendors, not from our guests. Our guests pay nothing for our premium concierge services and activity booking, and we did not charge you for any services. With regard to deposits, we collect a deposit at time of booking to secure your reservation or rental. Many activities and rentals will sell out well in advance of our guests’ arrival, and in order to secure the activity, we must collect a deposit (which is better than collecting in full, as it leaves the guest some room to cancel and not lose a bunch of money). And of course each vendor has their own deposit and cancelation policies. The point is we always put our guest needs first. Our job is to take the stress and complications away, and help you make the best of a relaxed vacation experience in Key West.
