All I did was call in as a customer , and they were extremely rude to me on the phone multiple times. Literally talked over me while I was speaking just to ask me what I was in the process of telling them. Cool

Had an emergency with an abscess and they found room for my husband that day. Everyone worked so well to make us comfortable and they solved the problem. Will definitely keep them as our dentist!

I went to Advanced Dentistry of Citrus County because I needed a teeth cleaning/exam; plus, I was shopping around for a dental implant (and they offered brochure promotions for both). I had some confidence going in since I had been a patient of Dr. Magyar years ago. My experience took place over two office visits: one in February for the comprehensive exam followed by the teeth cleaning in March. Unfortunately, it was a mixed bag. Although the staff was cordial and pleasant, the assistants who handled my dental care were lacking in expertise and efficiency, at times exhibiting inattentive carelessness with the potential to produce dangerous, serious results. Case in point: During my full mouth X-ray, Dr. Atras assistant, Kim, tripped over an electrical cord, causing the plastic dental appliance inserted in my mouth to slam with some force against my teeth in my lower left quadrant. Then, the CT scan: The machine was towards one corner in shadow, so it was somewhat unclear (especially for a patient who must remove her or his glasses) when it came time to align my front teeth with the designated groove in the mouth plate. After a couple of tries, I hit the mark; but she nevertheless adjusted the chin rest upward -- too tightly, I soon discovered when she directed me to remove my head away from the scanner. It was fortuitous that I was going slowly, or some of my teeth probably would have been broken because I was caught in the chin rest it was so snug that I could not extricate my mouth! After gingerly trying twice, I had to wryly comment that I was caught there in place, whereupon she came to my aid. Perhaps Kim was having a bad day; or perhaps she was not paying attention. Therein lies the danger: rote performance of tasks you have routinely done day in and day out, so that you are performing like an automaton and not in the moment, not in the here and now. That is when accidents can happen. Plus, I did not appreciate her referring to me as sweetie, rather than by my name. She does not know me, and would not take that liberty with a patient in her age group. It came off as condescending. My dental cleaning was not much better. There was a substitute dental hygienist that day when I was supposed to have my appointment with the hygienist on staff not the best for establishing a new patient. The assistant who clumsily provided the fluoride polish treatment before the teeth cleaning was not very accomplished; or maybe it was because I was in the prone position completely flat on my back (first time ever) so that it became a problem for me to rinse my mouth when instructed before the insertion of the suction tube which was not applied very helpfully. I had a mouth full of grit, despite my having swallowed a lot of it in a watery sludge (your stomach lets you know for sure afterwards). When the assistant flossed my teeth, she accused me of poor dental hygiene, commenting that I must have eaten a biscuit before arrival. So laughable: it was all the chunks of toothpaste grit caught along my gums! For years, I have been complimented for my excellent dental hygiene by dentists. I certainly brushed and flossed my teeth before the appointment that day. The positives: 1) The front desk managerAdvanced Dentistry of Citrus County is lucky to have her; and 2) Dr. Atra: Good communication, attentive listening skills, caring, knowledgeable and informative. I got the impression that he is on his game in delivering quality dental care. My oversight regarding the coupon deals: In my haste, I did not look closely that there was the option of only one; consequently, I cant avail myself of the coupon for a discount on the dental implant at their office. Perhaps, it went down the way it should have, though, given the unfortunate treatment I received at the hands of Dr. Atras assistants.
