5 years ago my daughter begged me to stop here on our way home from the Beach so she could grab some pamphlets. She originally wanted to possibly join the NAVY but nobody answered their door. She knocked on the ARMY door where she was greeted by a male soldier. She was then turned over to a black woman up front who was in charge and so incredibly rude to her. She started by body shaming my daughter in front of multiple soldiers. I explained we had just come from the Beach but she insisted my daughter cover up her shorts and tank top. She showed us zero kindness or respect and continued to lecture my daughter about her attire. There are many more insults and details I'm not posting. I became angry and another recruiter stepped up to help us. WE WERE JUST THERE FOR INFORMATION!!!. Amy Walter's was a kind recruiter who took us to her office in the back where she apologized for the other woman's behavior. I dont think ANYONE should treat a civilian walking in for information the way this woman treated my daughter. Amy agreed. My daughter died by suicide just weeks later. She wrote about her experience in this office in her journal which I later found. It was heartbreaking to read. She did not deserve the treatment she received there. You NEVER know the struggles someone is going through. My daughter Rachel lost her older sister and was hoping to join the military, get a job, find happiness and be proud of herself. It never happened. I myself am an ARMY vet. This woman should be brought up on some disciplinary charges or fired. What she did was unacceptable. I at least want her name so I can report her.
