Dr. Richard Michaud

This is a long review but PLEASE READ if youre considering going to this practice. I first want to start off by saying that I have never in my life given a 1 star review, because as a business owner I know how detrimental a bad review can be for any business. With that being said, I feel 100% confident in giving Dr. Michauds office at Apex Endodontics the worst review I can possibly give. I received a root canal with them in March 2023 prior to my wedding & everything went smoothly. At that time they seemed completely professional & friendly. Come November 2023 I needed another root canal, so I called Apexs office & scheduled with them on the 14th of November. The day before the appointment (the 15th) they called and cancelled on me, & rescheduled for the 28th of November for later in the afternoon. On the day of that appointment I had to call & cancel due to an emergency (early in the morning). I apologized all over myself & felt terrible for canceling the same day appointment. So we rescheduled for the 28th of December because apparently that was the soonest they could get me in. At this point I had been on antibiotics for over a month! I called in on December 11th & left a voicemail asking if I could please be added to their cancellation list due to being in such pain etc. I received a call back the following day (the 12th) from Gina the receptionist who suggested that I go someplace else due to being in such pain. I simply told her that I really trusted Dr. Michaud so I preferred to just keep my appointment for the 28th of December. She then proceeds to tell me that they are going to have to cancel my appointment for the 28th because she got her dates wrong. So I simply asked her if I could be scheduled after the new year & she replied that she didnt have the doctors schedule yet for after the new year. I responded by asking her to simply give me a call as soon as she can to try to get me the earliest appointment possible & she said okay. I knew something fishy was going on as it seemed like for some reason they didnt want to see me as a patient, but didnt want to tell me outright. So about an hour after that phone conversation I had my wife call & pretend like she needed a root canal on the same tooth, & Gina immediately told her that she could be seen in the upcoming week! So I took the phone & asked Gina why she told my wife she could be seen in a few days but told me I couldnt be seen for the foreseeable future just an hour before. She paused & put me on hold (knowing that she just got caught in a lie, so she was trying to come up with a story). She then told me that I never told her I was in pain & she also said that I never asked to be on the cancellation list I discussed both of those things with her JUST AN HOUR prior to this conversation. She gaslighted me, lied to me, & then accused me of deceiving her when truly I was the one who was being deceived and discriminated against for a unknown reason. She then HUNG UP on me. I tried calling back & when she answered she said the doctors arent willing to treat me & that if I called again she would report me to the police. I was completely respectful during his entire process, I did no name calling nor did I say anything derogatory I simply wanted an honest explanation as to why they refused to accept me as a patient. They were being incredibly rude to me & as unprofessional as a place of business can get. I was offended by being treated in such a way by them, especially having no idea why. I would highly recommend against going to this practice as they are very unprofessional & to be frank, very hypocritical. I will be reporting them to the better business bureau & doing everything I can to make it known for how they mistreat their patients.

****UPDATE**** ITS APPROX 18 MONTHS LATER & I HAVE JUST HAD EMERGENCY CORRECTIVE SURGERY ELSEWHERE because this dentist neglected to clean out one of the canals! I spent a weekend in agony and now have 2 weeks of antibiotics and a round of steroids to endure. Not to mention the money I am out!! Emergency root canal for this out-of-stater couldnt have gone any smoother. Irella and Dr.Michaud were warm, friendly and efficient. I remained comfortable and pain-free throughout the procedure. Plus the price I was quoted was the price I paid. I highly recommend this practice and will use them again if the situation arises.

Dr. Michaud did a terrific, painless root canal. His associates were wonderful and my experience was overall satisfying. This is a rarity for my 45+ years going to dentists. I highly recommend him and his staff.

Outstanding Doctor and staff. Being a old veteran I was really nervous. They treated me with respect and made me feel special. Please tell these young people how special they are. Also the doctor is a University of Miami graduate. Go "U".

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!! The team at Apex were professional and so knowledgeable. Its hard to believe you can enjoy yourself when going to get root canal - but they were amazing with their approach and patient services. Hopefully, I wont need to go back but if I do Im glad I was referred to them.
